This research thesis will explore, from the results of the life experiences of families and couples who lived through the Wangary fire (South Australia, January 2005), the complexities of work, parenting, relationships, changing responsibilities and roles and sense of place. All of these factors have relevance to the review and development of bushfire management policy and related community awareness and preparedness programs.

The two crosses (Line-A · Misr-1 and Line-A · Gemmiza-11) with the highest response in multiple shoots had parent that exhibited very good response. The parental line (Line-A) and the cross (Line-A · Msir-1) produced the highest mean values (61.90 and 45.24, respectively) for salt tolerant index

This competition will become more aggressive if the foreign universities are allowed to open their study centres in India. Albeit quality and employability are the main concerns of responsible institutions, money minting institutions which aim high rate of return lure and divert the parents and the students through attractive ads, by bypassing customer satisfaction. However, the success of these institutions will be possible only in the short run.

This paper discusses the arguments for and against fault and no-fault divorces which is an area of family law that is always subject of intense debate and emotional responses. The paper points to the fact that fault-based divorce system makes parting couples to apportion blame, often resulting in increased animosity and making it harder for ex-partners to develop positive relationships as co-parents.

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25°C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture contents.

Transgenerational plasticity occurs when the environmental experience of an organism modifies the growth and development of its progeny. Leaf damage in Mimulus guttatus exhibits transgenerational plasticity mediated through differential expression of hundreds of genes. The epigenetic mechanisms that facilitate this response have yet to be described.

Heterosis refers to superior traits exhibiting in a hybrid when compared with both parents. Generally, the hybridization between parents can change the expression pattern of some proteins such as non-additive proteins (NAPs) which might lead to heterosis.

DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modifcation that plays a critical role in most eukaryotic organisms. Parental alleles in haploid genomes may exhibit diferent methylation patterns, which can lead to diferent phenotypes and even diferent therapeutic and drug responses to diseases.

Earliness, an adaptive trait and factor of variation for agronomic characters, is a major trait in plant breeding. In present investigation, the experimental material comprised of P1, P2, F1, F2 and F2:3 generations of wheat crossDL-788-2 X GW-322 for earliness related traits with objective of linkage and QTL mapping in bread wheat. Out of 200 SSR markers screened for parental polymorphism for earliness related traits, only 11% of SSR markers showed good polymorphism between two parental lines.

A research work was undertaken at Agricultural College and Research Institute during late rabi, 2016 (Nov-Feb), and rabi, 2017 (Nov-Feb) to determine the response of selection for grain yield and yield related components and to estimate the amount of genetic potential transferred from one generation to next generation using different segregating generations of rice. In the present study, segregating generations viz., F2, F3 and generations of four crosses viz.

Among abiotic stresses, drought is the most common reducer of crop yields. The slow-wilting soybean genotype PI 416937 is somewhat robust to water deficit and has been used previously to map the trait in a bi-parental population.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are 3′-5′ head-to-tail covalently closed non-coding RNA that have been proved to play essential roles in many cellular and developmental processes. However, no information relate to cucumber circRNAs is available currently, especially under salt stress condition.

Hybridization was carried out between highly resistant genotype Meha and four susceptible genotypes viz., Pusa Vishal, GJM-1006, GM-4 and GJM-1008 to deduce genetics of Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (MYMV) resistance in mungbean. Parents, F1s, F2s and F3 progenies were evaluated for their response to MYMV infection utilizing highly susceptible variety GM-4 as an infector row keeping one row of GM-4 after every two rows of parents, F1s, F2s and F3 progenies.

The experiment was conducted during two consecutive years (2012-13 and 2013-14) to assess the mean performance of hybrid and parent cultivars and their response towards holding solutions. Hybrid cultivars were found to perform better than their parents for the characters under study. Among all the cultivars tested, Punjab Glance statistically at par with Punjab Glad 1 and Punjab Lemon Delight took minimum days to opening of basal floret (1.89 days). Punjab Glad 1 recorded maximum vase life (6.40 days), absorption spike-1 (75.80 ml) and per cent opening of florets.

Among the abiotic stresses, drought is the major factor for heavy yield losses in rice production. The present study was undertaken with an aim of understanding the effect of mega QTLs of Apo controlling yield under drought. The BILs viz., CB 229 and CB 193-3 were evaluated for their drought responses under green house conditions along with the parents Apo, IR64 and check Norungan during Summer 2015, Kharif 2015, Rabi 2015-16. The results from this study reported that, Apo and BILs had higher photosynthetic rate when compared to IR64 under drought.

In young children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) parents have full responsibility for the diabetes-management of their child (e.g. blood glucose monitoring, and administering insulin). Behavioral tasks in childhood, such as developing autonomy, and oppositional behavior (e.g. refusing food) may interfere with the diabetes-management to achieve an optimal blood glucose control.

In young children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), parents have complete responsibility for the diabetes-management. In toddlers and (pre)schoolers, the tasks needed to achieve optimal blood glucose control may interfere with normal developmental processes and could negatively affect the quality of parent–child interaction.
