  • We prepared novel unsymmetrical A3B-type zinc and cobalt phthalocyanines bearing monocarboxylic acid groups on peripheral positions using statistical condensation method, especially designed to anchor on the TiO2 semiconductor surface. The novel complexes were anchored on TiO2 semiconductor to prepare effective dye sensitized photoactive composites as heterogeneous catalysts. The results indicated that modified TiO2 nanocrystals possessed only the anatase phase and MPc-TiO2 photocatalysts with loading amount of dye ca. 8.27 µmol/g TiO2 exhibit strong visible light absorption.

  • The concentration of the HCl reaction medium and the following aging are the essential factors affecting the formation and phase composition of the resulting TiO2 nanocrystals. TiO2 nanoparticles in the form of pure anatase and the rutile phase can be extracted and segregated from the suspension and precipitate of the synthesizing medium.

  • This work pointed out the preparation of a magnetic glass–ceramic in the system Fe2O3–ZnO–CaO–SiO2. The base composition was designed to crystallize about 60% magnetite. The influence of adding TiO2, Na2O and P2O5 separately or as mixtures was studied. The DTA of the glasses revealed a decrease in the thermal effects by adding P2O5, TiO2 and Na2O in an increasing order. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the presence of nanometric magnetite crystals in a glassy matrix after cooling from the melting temperature.

  • In this paper we report new abnormal photoluminescence results of TiO2 nanocrystal particles and nanotube arrays. Photoluminescence spectra were recorded for TiO2 nanocrystal particles and nanotube arrays that were synthesized by a wet chemical route and the electrochemical anodization, respectively. It was found that the TiO2 nanocrystal with small size of 5-8 nm no emitted when excited by a laser beam of 325 nm, in contrary it emitted when excited by laser beam of 442 nm.
