  • This paper describes an investigation of fluid flow through two tandem circular cylinders using Lattice-Boltzmann Method in direct numerical simulation. The diameter ratio of two circular cylinders, D1/D2 varies from 0.5 to 1.5, and spacing ratio (L/D2) varies from 1.5 to 10, whereas the Reynolds number of 100 is considered. The numerical model is well validated by comparing the results with those obtained in the literature.

  • In this research the effect of ground proximity on the lift, drag and moment coefficients of inverted, two-dimensional aerofoils was investigated. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect ground proximity on aerofoils post stall, in an effort to evaluate the use of active aerodynamics to increase the performance of a race car. The aerofoils were tested at angles of attack ranging from 0° – 135°. The tests were performed at a Reynolds number of 2.16 x 105 based on chord length. Forces were calculated via the use of pressure taps along the centreline of the aerofoils.

  • The flow of a thixotropic Bingham material past a rotating cylinder is studied under a wide range of Reynolds and Bingham numbers, thixotropic parameters, and rotational speeds. A microstructure transition of the material involving breakdown and recovery processes is modeled using a kinetic equation, and the BinghamPapanastasiou model is employed to represent shear stress-strain rate relations.

  • The test used Reynolds number 6.577 x 103 on a 1: 100 scale model. Testing was conducted at varying the angle of attack of 0° - 60°. The flow visualization was measured using dye injection method. The result of the research using GAMA water tunnel showed the aerodynamic force and vortex dynamics phenomenon that showed the difference in lift and drag coefficients. The results of this visualization showed the formation of vortex nuclei that occur in the wings of the aircraft model.

  • The flow was modeled with the turbulence model k-ω turbulence model. The results showed that Taylor-Couette flow would form a flow pattern of Couette laminar, wavy vortex, and vortex turbulent. The wavelength of the wavelength rises with increasing rotation. The profile of temperature distribution is in the form of a linear profile increases with the Reynolds number.

  • The immersed boundary method (IBM) is used for the simulations of the two-dimensional cases. The calculations are carried out on a Eulerian-Lagrangian grid using the finite difference method. The simulations are performed using two Reynolds numbers 100 and 200. The streamline and vorticity contours of the flow around the cylinders and force time histories are presented.

  • In this paper, the problem of linear stability of viscous liquid films down an inclined plane is solved by finite difference method. It is applicable for moderate values of Reynolds and wave numbers. The obtained results by this method is compared with ones of some papers and with experimental data.

  • A variational principle for channel and pipe flows of incompressible viscous fluid is proposed. For low Reynolds numbers this variational principle reduces to the principle of minimum dissipation. For high Reynolds numbers it enables one to calculate the velocity profiles and the corresponding friction factors with reasonably good accuracy.

  • In this article, we present a numerical Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method. In the SPH method for the Navier – Stokes equations the most widespread method to solve for pressure and mass conservation is the weakly compressible assumption (WCSPH). This article presents two important benchmark problems to validate the algorithm of SPH method. The two benchmark problems chosen are the Lid – driven cavity problem and Poiseuille flow problem at very low Reynolds numbers. The SPH results are also in good agreement with the analytical solution.

  • In considering the overall workstation design, we must start with an analysis of the tasks which need to be performed there. No amount of ergonomic furniture can solve a situation where there is simply insufficient space. For example, as computer technology has been introduced into some offices, the computers or their terminals often have simply been placed onto existing desks, thus using up a large proportion of the space which is still needed for clerical tasks.

  • In the thousands of English language articles, essays, and books by researchers and practitioners writing about grief following a death, there is little about African American grief (Barrett, 1995). This is not to say that a small number of studies cannot be immensely important. We have benefited from reading the works that are in the literature and that we cite at a number of places in this book, for example, Barrett (1995), Brice (1999), Hines (1986, 1991), Kalish and Reynolds (1981), and Meagher and Bell (1993).
