This research will determine the actuarially fair premium rate, both theoretically and using the data of rice harvest yield in Central Java Province from 1990-2017. The calculation, employing the rice harvest yield data, results in the premium rate. The farmers must pay for each hectare from IDR 56,000 (minimum) to IDR 161,600 (maximum) with an average value of IDR 110,750.Meanwhile,the standard deviation principle used, the premium results between IDR 78,151 and IDR 143,349.

This paper aimed to analyze the financial gap between the demands and the actual credit obtained of the Seng Cu (SC) rice chain participants in Lao Cai province, Vietnam. Cross-sectional data were collected from 160 face-to-face interviews with SC rice producers and in-depth interviews with 31 other stakeholders involved in the chain (demand-side) as well as the representatives of district-branch banks (supply-side) in 2016-2017.

The present study was conducted to map Katarni rice value chain in the Bhagalpur, Banka and Munger district of Bihar. Arandom sample of 90 Katarni rice growers, 30 non-Katarni rice growers and 30 market intermediaries were interviewed and number of focused group for discussion were held. Findings of the study revealed that their exist six major types of Katarni rice value chain through which more than 90 percent of Katarni rice product movement and value creation takes place.

Starches from the wheat (UP262, PBW343), rice (PB2, PD19) and millets (Finger millet VL Mandua-352, Barnyard millet VL Madira-207, Foxtail millet DHFT-109-3) were isolated by alkali extraction method and characterized for morphologically and biochemical properties. The morphological properties of starch granules were studied by scanning electron microscope. The infrared spectroscopy is sensitive to structural changes on starch macromolecule, such as helicoidal chain conformation, crystallinity, retrogradation and water content.

The poor in mountainous areas of Quang Nam province give priority to food security in farming. Main food crops on upland were rice, cassava and banana; on lowland were rice and cassava; in home garden was jackfruit; in forest were acacia and cinnamon. Strategies to ensure food security and sustainable income for the poor are improve upland agriculture production by crop diversification, “short-time crops support long- time plants”, sustainable intensifications of local varieties and breeds, and enforce local people integrated in chain values of banana, cassava and mungbean.
