SBF solution

In this study, we synthesized hydroxyapatite (HA) on polyvinyl alcohol/TiO2 (PVA/TiO2) in which TiO2 was prepared by the sol-gel method. HA was formed by immersing the membrane in the simulated body fluid (SBF) solution. We improved the mechanical strength of the membranes by adding glutaraldehyde (GA) combining with heat treatment to cross-link the polymer network.

In the present work, the effect of the CaO/P2O5 ratio on the composition of sol-gel synthesized 58SiO2-(19 x)P2O5–(23 + x)CaO (x = 0, 5, 10 and 15 mol%) glass samples was studied. Further, the effect of NBO/BO ratio on hydroxy carbonated apatite layer (HCA) forming ability based on dissolution behavior in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution was also investigated. CaO/P2O5 ratios of synthesized glass samples were 1.2, 2, 3.6, and 9.5, respectively. NBO/BO ratios were obtained using Raman spectroscopic analysis as 0.58, 1.20, 1.46, and 1.78, respectively.

Mineralization of natural hydroxyapatite for high efficiency of Pb2+ ion removal in aqueous solution
The mineralized hydroxyapatite (m-HA) was prepared by soaking natural hydroxyapatite (n-HA) extracted from pig bone in the simulated body fluid (SBF) for 3 days. The m-HA was much better in comparison with the n-HA for removing Pb2+ ions from aqueous solution. After 4 hours of adsorption experiments, m-HA material eliminated almost 100% of lead ions while n-HA removes only 65.4%. The adsorption isotherm study was effectuated for the m-HA.

The presence of Ag element was controled by EDX analysis. ‘‘In vitro’’ of synthesized glass was effectuated by soaking of glass powder in SBF solution. EDX result indicated that silver was released when immersing derivative bioglass in SBF solution and silver is an antibacterial agent. XRD and SEM confirmed the bioactivity of glass 45S-Ag by the apatite formation on its surface.
