Sorghum is an important tropical cereal food, feed and fodder crop. It is important grain and forage crop of semiarid regions due to its high adaptability and suitability to rainfed low input agriculture. The present experiment consist of three varieties viz., SPV-2217, GS-23 and M 35-1 and nine treatments...

In rice seeds, the food reserves are mainly stored in the form of lipids, proteins and starch in the endosperm. The protein and starch stored during seed maturation and desiccation, will be broken into small fragments and degraded gradually during germination. Protein degradation process contributes their amino acids to the biosynthesis of new proteins while starch degrading provides energy for cell multiplication during germination (Yang et al., 2007).

Wilt and root rot diseases of chickpea caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri and Macrophomina phaseolina are serious biotic constraints for chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) production. These are most important and widespread soil- and seed-borne diseases of chickpea grown where the climate is relatively dry and warm.

The field experiment was conducted during kharif season, 2017 at Seed Farm, College of Agriculture, Vijayapura,Karnataka. The experiment comprised of nine biopriming treatments and control. The results revealed that the higher seed yield (790 kg ha-1 ), gross returns (Rs. 39,475 ha-1 ), net returns (Rs. 24,046 ha-1 ) and B:C ratio (2.56) were recorded in the Rhizobium leguminosarum @ 20 per cent followed by Trichoderma harzianum @ 20 per cent, Streptomyces sp. strain AUDT-502 @ 20 per cent as compared to control and Fluorescent pseudomonad sp.

Rice, Results obtained in the experiments conducted to find out effect of seed bio-priming on management of sheath blight and sheath rot diseases of rice in field condition revealed that seed bio-primed with Trichoderma harzianum applied at imbibition was proved to be an excellent bio-agent to manage sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) with minimum disease incidence (25.67%) and severity (21.63%) whereas Pseudomonas fluorescens applied at imbibition significantly manage sheath rot (Sarocladium oryzae) with minimum disease incidence (28.67%) and severity (23.41%).

Dirty panicle disease (DPD) caused by several fungal phytopathogens results in damage and depreciation of rice seeds. Unhealthy rice seeds with DPD are potent reservoirs of pathogens and unable to be used as seed stock as they can spread the disease in the paddy fields leading to the severe loss of rice yield and quality.

Chickpea seed were bioprimed with vermiculite and later with biocontrol agents for their efficacy on seed borne infections and seedling vigour of the plant. Among the seven treatments tested, the treatment P. fluorescens @ 0.8 % + T. harzianum@ 0.8 % + Vermiculite shown the least seed infection of 13.00 per cent, highest seed germination of 91.00 per cent and vigour index of 1753.

A laboratory experiment was conducted at seed science and technology, college of agriculture, Raichur during December, 2018. Aim is to study the effect of seed quality through integrated approach in prosomillet of resultant seeds. The experiment consisted of 4 priming treatment combinations viz., Control, hydropriming for 8h, biopriming with Pseudomonas fluorescens (20 %) and KH2PO4 (2%) with three levels of fertility (100 %, 125 % and 150% RDF). The seeds produced from the field experiment are evaluated in the laboratory for quality assessment.

The present study was done to know the efficiency of biopriming on growth, yield and seed quality in chickpea. The experimental factors were laid out in RBD with three replications. Chickpea seeds were bioprimed with 13 treatments combinations (Trichoderma viride@10gm/kg, Pseudomonas fluroscence@10gm/kg, Neem leaf extract@10ml/kg, Tulasi leaf extract@10ml/kg, Coconut water@10ml/kg, Azospirillum@10ml/kg). Among the above treatments tested, the treatment combination of Trichoderma viride + Pseudomonas fluroscence@10ml/kg shows the highest plant height (40.9), Number of primary branches (6.

Seed biopriming, soil application with enriched FYM and foliar application of talc based formulation of Trichoderma isolates were evaluated under field condition during the Kharif season 2015. Integration of seed biopriming, soil application enriched FYM and foliar application of Trichoderma isolates T3 and T19 was found highly effective in promoting root and shoot length and stem diameter of sorghum. Individually, soil application and biopriming of seed with Trichoderma isolates were effective in growth promotion activity but their effectiveness was greater when applied as a combination.

The studies were carried out with greengram var CO8 seeds to determine the effect of biopriming on germination and vigour of seeds. Seeds of greengram were primed with water and liquid formulation of rhizobacteria, phosphobacteria and Pseudomonas with different concentrations viz., 1%, 2% and 5% for 3hours. Unprimed seeds served as the control. In this study, biopriming with rhizobium at 5% recorded the highest in germination (%), seedling length and vigour index values. Biopriming of seeds performed better than hydropriming with enhanced rate of germination and vigour of the seedlings.

The experiment was conducted to determine the enhancement of seedling vigour through bio priming for barnyard millet. Seeds of barnyard millet var. MDU 1 were bioprimed with water, Azophos, Pseudomonas fluroscens, PPFM and the combinations of Azophos+ Pseudomonas fluroscens at 20% concentration for 8 h. Bio- primed seeds were evaluated for its germination, seedling length, vigour index, dehydrogenase, α-amylase and microbial count.

Integrating soil solarization and seed biopriming to manage seedling damping-off in flower nurseries
The effect of soil solarization for a month in integration with seed biopriming with Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens and seed treatment with fungicides was studied in two flower crop nurseries of calendula and aster, raised in succession. Nursery beds were solarized for 30 days using polyethylene sheet of three colours viz. transparent white, black and red; and three thicknesses (50G, 200G and 400G). The damping-off incidence in first crop (Calendula) was minimum (28.
