Keeping these facts in view, in the present investigation we screened the endophytic bacteria for their effect on growth of pearl millet crop under water stress conditions. The endophytic bacteria were then evaluated for their effect on seed germination, seedling vigour under osmotic stress conditions. Our outcome suggests that endophytic bacteria can be used in agriculture to reduce water stress in plants in an eco-friendly manner.

Spinach is a good source of vitamins riboflavin and calcium and dietary fiber. Now a day plant growth regulators are playing a very important role in increasing yield, growth and improving the quality of crops. Mungbean is grown principally for its protein content. Seed borne mycoflora affect the germination and vigour of seeds. Thus, due to seed borne diseases, there is a reduction in the production, resulting in failure of fulfilling the demand of mungbean seeds. The associated seed borne mycoflora were found to reduce the germination and thereby seedling vigour index. Fungicides and Trichoderma were found to increase the vigour index by keeping mycoflora under check and plant growth promoting activities of Trichoderma.

Thirty one mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) genotypes were screened for drought tolerance under laboratory conditions in CRD using PEG 6000 at different concentrations of -0.3 MPa, -0.6MPa and -0.9MPa. The genotypes showed reduction in germination percentage and shoot length and increase in root length under water stress condition. Screening of genotypes based on single morphological parameter appears to be limiting due to inconsistency in growth responses of different seedling parts.

Chandragiri) was conducted with an objective to evaluate the suitability of different containers for raising the seedlings and to find out most suitable media for better rooting and growth of coffee seedlings. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of salinity on germination and emergence of chilli cultivars and to investigate the ability for genetic salt tolerance during germination and seedling growth. Although some of the chilli genotypes have salinity tolerance to some extent, more attention is required to assess the cultivars for salinity resistance/tolerance so as to screen them and select best types suitable to cultivate under areas prone to soil salinity.

Seeds from yellow passion fruit Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa present dormancy imposed by the seed coat. The present study aimed to evaluate some treatments to overcome this dormancy for better germination. An experiment was conducted during 2015 to study the effect of different pre-sowing treatments on germination, vigour and growth of passion fruit. The study showed significant differences among the treatments. Maximum germination percentage (89.51%) and least mean germination time (11.67 days after sowing) was observed in seeds treated with sulphuric acid for 4 minutes.

Seed storage and germination, particularly of fruit crops, is a major problem in arid region. Therefore, the seeds of different age of aonla were evaluated for germination and vigour attributes in polythene tubes under field condition. The germination pattern & seedling growth showed a steady decline over a period of storage of seeds. However, the loss of germination percentage and vigour index was more pronounced from 10th months of storage under ambient condition. Further, there was 73.7 and 90.

In North West Plain Zone (NWPZ), where the hot, dry wind is frequent during grain filling, wheat cultivars suffer from loss of grain weight because of low grain filling rate. A field study was carried out under normal sown conditions to evaluate the phenological variation in forty wheat genotypes. Significant genotypic differences were observed for most of the traits. WH 1105, WH 1138 and HD 2967 had the highest grain yield per plant 1150.0, 1136.7 and 1103.3 g/plot respectively.

The experiment was carried out to know the effect of different seed treatments on seedling growth parameters in sarpagandha. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design with seven treatments, replicated thrice. Among the different seed treatments tested, GA3 (1000 mg L-1 ) treatment was found to be the best, recording earliness to reach four leaf stage, highest values for shoot and root length (10.99 and 7.06 cm, respectively) and vigour index (901.91).
