Semantic grid

This paper explores the need for making the semantics explicit and machine-accessible and outlines the current state of the e-learning technologies specifically the Semantic Web and the Semantic Grid. The aim of this paper is to highlight what such learning technologies bring to e-learning.

In STeCEQL, we use time interval as temporal model and grid map as spatial models. We give the syntax and operational semantics of STeCEQL based on the temporal and spatial model. Finally, our experiments illustrate the effectiveness of the operational semantics.

These limitations arise because the P2P world is lacking in the areas of semantics, data transformation, and data relationships, yet these are some of the core strengths of the data management community. Queries, views, and integrity constraints can be used to express relationships between existing objects and to define new objects in terms of old ones. Complex queries can be posed across multiple sources, and the results of one query can be materialized and used to answer other queries.

Many examples of P2P systems have emerged recently, most of which are wide-area, large-scale systems that provide content sharing [12], storage services [10], or distributed “grid” computation [4, 11]. Smaller-scale P2P systems also exist, such as federated, serverless file systems [2, 1] and collaborative workgroup tools [7]. The success of these systems has been mixed; some, such as Napster, have enjoyed enormous popularity and perform well at scale.

The management of data within Grids is a challenging problem. It requires providing easy access to distributed, heterogeneous data that may reside in different ‘administrative domains’ and may be represented by heterogeneous data formats, and/or have different semantic meaning. Since applications may access data from a variety of storage repositories, for example, file systems, database systems, Web sites, document management systems, scientific databases, and so on, there is a need to define a higher-level abstraction for data organization. This is generally referred to as a data collection.
