We provide the first country record of Opisthotropis durandi Teynié, Lottier, David, Nguyen & Vogel, 2014 from Vietnam based on a single snake specimen from Dien Bien Province. The species previously was only known from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos). DNA sequence data of a male specimen from Vietnam match those of a specimen of O. durandi from Phongsali province, Laos, and the newly collected individual from Vietnam also corresponds to O. durandi in terms of diagnostic morphological features, except for a slightly higher ventral number (185 versus 177−181).

Visual question answering is a task that requires computers to give correct answers for the input questions based on the images. This task can be solved by humans with ease, but it is a challenge for computers. The VLSP2022-EVJVQA shared task carries the Visual question answering task in the multilingual domain on a newly released dataset UIT-EVJVQA, in which the questions and answers are written in three different languages: English, Vietnamese, and Japanese.

This study applies an effective deep learning framework for the classification of microbial sequences. The proposed architecture combines a sequence embedding layer with other layers of a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory, Seft-attention, and Dropout mechanisms for feature learning. Experimental results demonstrate the strength of the proposed method on datasets of real metagenomes.

C++ For Dummies is an introduction to the C++ language. C++ For Dummies starts from the beginning (where else?) and works its way from early concepts and through more sophisticated techniques. It doesn’t assume that you have any prior knowledge, at least, not of programming. C++ For Dummies is rife with examples. Every concept is documented in numerous snippets and several complete programs. Unlike other C++ programming books, C++ For Dummies considers the “why” just as important as the “how.” The features of C++ are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

Base substitution catalogues represent historical records of mutational processes that have been active in a cell. Such processes can be distinguished by various characteristics, like mutation type, sequence context, transcriptional and replicative strand bias, genomic distribution and association with (epi)-genomic features.

We developed subclone multiplicity allocation and somatic heterogeneity (SMASH), a new statistical method for intra-tumor heterogeneity (ITH) inference. SMASH is tailored to the purpose of large-scale association studies with one tumor sample per patient. In a pan-cancer study of 14 cancer types, we studied the associations between survival time and ITH quantified by SMASH, together with other features of somatic mutations.

A challenge in the post-GWAS era is to assign function to disease-associated variants. However, available resources do not include all tissues or environmental exposures that are relevant to all diseases. For example, exaggerated bronchoconstriction of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) defines airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), a cardinal feature of asthma.

Many immunotherapies rely on the presence of neoepitopes derived from somatic mutations that lead to altered peptide sequences. Several studies have now analyzed the neoepitope landscape of different cancer subtypes, predominantly for adult samples, which tend to feature significantly higher mutational burden.

Prognosis evaluation of advanced breast cancer and therapeutic strategy are mostly based on clinical features of advanced disease and molecular profiling of the primary tumor. Very few studies have evaluated the impact of metastatic subtyping during the initial metastatic event in a prospective study.

Recent studies have suggested that individual variants do not sufficiently explain the variable expressivity of phenotypes observed in complex disorders. For example, the 16p12.1 deletion is associated with developmental delay and neuropsychiatric features in affected individuals, but is inherited in > 90% of cases from a mildly-affected parent.

Mixed phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL), a rare subgroup of leukemia characterized by blast cells with myeloid and lymphoid lineage features, is difficult to diagnose and treat. A better characterization of MPAL is essential to understand the subtype heterogeneity and how it compares with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

Extension of prostate cancer beyond the primary site by local invasion or nodal metastasis is associated with poor prognosis. Despite significant research on tumour evolution in prostate cancer metastasis, the emergence and evolution of cancer clones at this early stage of expansion and spread are poorly understood.

Ebook "Ultraviolet and X-ray spectroscopy of the solar atmosphere" give us information about temperatures, densities, flow velocities, filling factors (indicating to what extent features are being spatially resolved), thermal structure, element abundances, ionization state of solar plasmas in the outer parts of the solar atmosphere: the chromosphere, the corona and the enigmatic transition region. They also allow insight into all phenomena in the solar atmosphere, e.g. flares, jets, and prominences.
