  • The model was applied to the study long wave propagation on uneven bathymetries, after that, compared with analytical solutions or published numerical ones to understand more about the interaction processes between the long wave and sea beach or island in terms of water and velocity profiles. Very good agreement is observed in the figures bellow, showing good application prospect.

  • This study proposes a numerical model based on the depth-integrated non-hydrostatic shallow water equations with an improvement of wave breaking dissipation. Firstly, studies of parameter sensitivity were carried out using the proposed numerical model for simulation of wave breaking to understand the effects of the parameters of the breaking model on wave height distribution. The simulated results of wave height near the breaking point were very sensitive to the time duration parameter of wave breaking. The best value of the onset breaking parameter is around 0.

  • In this paper, we studied the progression of shallow water waves relevant to the variable coefficient Korteweg–de Vries (vcKdV) equation. We investigated two kinds of cases: when the dispersion and nonlinearity coefficients are proportional, and when they are not linearly dependent. In the first case, it was shown that the progressive waves have some geometric structures as in the case of KdV equation with constant coefficients but the waves travel with time dependent speed. In the second case, the wave structure is maintained when the nonlinearity balances the dispersion.

  • Numerical simulation have been carried out to observe and predict the mechanisms of stationary mixed flows in a free surface channel combined with a closed conduit. This study has been conducted with a wide range of discharge values, based on a free rectangular channel (4.5x0.98x0.50 m) at the upstream combined with a closed rectangular conduit (4.5 m length), located at the end of the channel. The height of the conduit is fixed at 100 mm and the conduit width is varied to form several other geometrical configurations.

  • The aim of this paper is to present an efficient high order accuracy numerical scheme for conservation law on structure grids. The Monotone Upstream Centered Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL) procedure renders the model to preserve the well-balanced property and achieve high accuracy and efficiency for solving nonlinear two dimensional shallow water equations (2DSWE).

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate the capability of the 2D and 3D numerical models to simulate sudden dam break flows in the presence of an obstacle. The 2D-FV model is proposed based on Finite Volume method (FVM) to solve shallow water equations. The commercially available CFD software package Flow-3D solved Navier-Stock equations along the volume of fluid (VOF) method to track the location of the free surface at the air water interface.

  • A parallel computing model for the numerical solution of the general 20 shallow water equations in conservative form has been developed, tested and implemented in the MPI parallel environment set up on a parallel computer with four 2.8 GHz CPUs in Institute of Mechanics, VAST. The model is based on a Godunov-type numerical scheme, which is devised for 20 unstructured computational meshes, and on a domain decomposition technique.

  • A numerical model using the 1D shallow water equations was developed for the simulation of long wave propagation and runup. The developed model is based on the Finite Volume Method (FVM) with an application of Godunov - type scheme of second order of accuracy. The model uses the HLL approximate Riemann solver for the determination of numerical fluxes at cell interfaces. The model was applied to the simulation of long wave propagation and runup on a plane beach and simulated results were compared with the published experimental data. The comparison shows that the present model has a power...
