Infestation by tea green leafhoppers (Empoasca (Matsumurasca) onukii) can cause a series of biochemical changes in tea leaves. As a typical cell-rupture feeder, E. onukii secretes proteases while using its stylet to probe the tender shoots of tea plants (Camellia sinensis).

Bioefficacy of newer and biorational insecticides against shoot and fruit borer, Earias spp. on Okra
An experiment was conducted on bioefficacy of newer and biorational insecticides against shoot and fruit borer on okra. Efficacy of insecticides tested against Earias spp on okra indicated that the minimum per cent infestation of shoot and fruit borer was found in the treatment of indoxacarb (1.36%) followed by spinosad (1.75%), emamectin benzoate (2.57%) and fipronil (2.98%). The acetamiprid, acephate, dimethoate/ malathion and NSKE registered 3.25, 4.23, 4.81 and 5.28 per cent infestation of shoot and fruit borer and existed in moderate group of efficacy. The treatments of B.

Thirty five accessions of brinjal were assessed for variability for nineteen characters. Highly significant differences were observed among the accessions. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for number of fruits per cluster, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit width, average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant, ascorbic acid content, total phenol content, shoot and fruit borer infestation indicating the existence of wider genetic variability for these traits in the germplasm.

he field experiment was conducted to study the varietal preference of okra shoot and fruit borer, Earias vittella (Fab.) under field condition in Konkan region during summer 2016 and 2017 at RARS, Karjat. There were eight varieties viz., ArkaAnamika, Akola 10, Akola Bahar, PhuleUtakarsh, GOA-5, ParbhaniKranti, Panjab, Padmini, and VarshaUpahar (as a check) were screened for their relative susceptibility to okra shoot and fruit borer under field conditions. Among the eight genotypes/varieties of okra, none of the cultivars was found to be free from pest infestation in the year 2016 and 2017.
