Simulation of absorbed doses distribution

90Y PET/CT imaging is performed after radioembolization to re-evaluate the resin microsphere distribution and estimate the absorbed radiation dose of target tumor. However, the distribution of 90Y resin microsphere on PET/CT was different from that of 99mTc-MAA simulation and additive role of PET/CT was not well established until now.

The purpose of the study is to quantify breast dose to reassure patients and staff that these understandings still apply. A combination of measurements and simulations were used to estimate absorbed breast dose. Gafchromic® XR-QA2 film was used to measure breast dose placed inside the RANDO® phantom in a series of controlled experiments. The RANDO® is an anthropomorphic phantom commonly used for dosimetry investigations. Gafchromic® XR QA2 film is a radiochromic film that changes colour when irradiated. Simulation is commonly used and readily available.

In this paper, the distribution of absorbed dose components in a polyethylene phantom for BNCT application at Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor (DNRR) were calculated using the MCNP5 code. The configuration of horizontal neutron channel No.2 of the DNRR, which contains a cylindrical collimator with neutron filters of 20-cm Si and 3-cm Bi, was simulated.

Investigation of electron absorbed dose distribution inside a Lo Ren star apple irradiated by 10 Mev electron beam has been performed based on Monte Carlo simulation using the MCNP4c code. Dose uniformity ratio (DUR) inside the Lo Ren star apple has also been evaluated and optimized using additional medium density fiberboards (MDF) outside the carton box. The DUR inside the fruit without using the additional MDF boards was estimated of about 2.47, which is excessively high for fruit irradiation compared to a desirable value of less than 1.5.
