Economic growth of Vietnam in 2011 - 2013

Economic growth was one of the No.1 objectives of the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and in Vietnam’s 2011-2015 5-year socio-economic development plan. In the years of 2011-2013, there recorded positive signs of Vietnam’s economic growth, but at the same time, there were negative ones. This article is an effort to review Vietnam’s economic growth in the 2011-2013 period, from which the authors want to recommend some solutions for stimulating the economy.

The Government of Vietnam’s (GoV) Socio-Economic Plan outlines the government’s expectations for agriculture and rural development. The Agriculture Sector GDP in 2009 was 220 trillion VND, approximately 18% of total GDP. Agriculture's share of GDP has steadily declined GoV and while the GDP increased by 5.3% during 2009, the agriculture GDP increased by only 1.8%. Never-the-less government expects GDP growth in the agriculture sector to increase annually by 3 – 5 %.
