The results indicated that Number of tillers/plant, number of leaves/plant, leaves area/plant at vegetative stage, biomass, days to heading, number of kernels/spike, 1000-kerenl weight, grain yield, K+ concentration and K+/Na+ ratio were decreased under salinity treatments as compared with control, and hence Na+ concentration was increased.

Two consecutive field experiments after rice crop were conducted during 2011-12 and 2012-13 in the Crop Research Centre, of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttar Pradesh. Ten different treatments were implied to evaluate the residual effect of vermicompost and applied inorganic fertilizers on wheat crop. Significantly taller plants than T2 during both the years were measured in those treatments where 4 ton vermicompost was applied in rice.

Maize is a heavy nutrient feeder crop but over and inappropriate fertilization provides lesser yield than the genetic yield potential, lower profits and deterioration in soil health therefore, a new fertilizer recommendation approach, Nutrient Expert (NE) for hybrid maize was evaluated against farmers fertilizer practice (FFP) in three years maize-wheat rotation. Results revealed that nutrient expert-decision support system based nutrient management gave higher yield, nutrient uptake and profits and sustained soil properties over other practices.

Potassium fertilization is often ignored in cereal-based cropping systems assuming sufficient K reserves in the alluvial soils of north-western India. However, the responses to K have now widely reported due to continuous mining and little additions through external sources. Little known on the effects of integrated K management on soil biological properties and yield performance of corn grown in sequence with wheat.

Salt-affected soils occur in several countries of the world, especially in the arid and semiarid areas and also in coastal tracts. In India, more than 7.0 million hectares of land is affected by salinity and alkalinity (Anonymous, 2015). In Uttar Pradesh area of saltaffected soil is 1.295 million hectares (Anonymous, 2015). Such soils cannot be economically utilized for crop production because they adversely affect the growth and yield of the crop plants due to adverse physico-chemical properties.

Following the industrial revolution in the nineteenth century, agricultural machinery and tractors became available for tillage operations. Different types of tillage systems have different tillage depths and capacity to change soil physical properties that affect the crop yield and quality. Important soil physical properties such as bulk density, penetration resistance, water infiltration, hydraulic conductivity and soil compaction are affected by tillage.

The field experiment was conducted at Instructional farm of A.N.D University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.) during Rabi, 2016-17. The treatments was comprised with five levels of irrigation viz. CRI stage (I1), 0.6 IW/CPE ratio (I2), 0.8 IW/CPE ratio (I3), 1.0 IW/CPE ratio (I4), and 1.2 IW/CPE ratio (I5) in Randomize Block Design with four replications. The results reaveled that the highest fresh and dry weight and density of root, grain and straw yield by crop were recorded with 1.0 IW/CPE ratio (I4) moisture regime followed by 1.

The experiment was conducted at Jabalpur (M.P.) for 2 consecutive years (2007-08 to 2008-09) to identify suitable diversified cropping systems to study productivity, water economics, mining of nutrients and soil improvement over existing rice-wheat and ricechickpea cropping system for Kymore Plateau and Satpura Hills agroclimatic zone. Between the 4 varieties of rice of different duration, Pro Agro 6444 topped in yield attributes like tillers/ m2 (434.6 to 434.9) and grains per panicles (155.7 to 156.7) along with grain (6.25 to 6.31 t/ha) and straw yields (9.38 to 9.44 t/ha).

The rice-wheat cropping system, which is considered as the backbone of food selfsufficiency, is facing a sustainability problem due to practices of modern production system with indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. So, effects of long term use of mineral fertilizers and farmyard manure (FYM) under rice (Oryza sativa)– wheat (Triticum aestivum) cropping system in a Mollisol was investigated. Rice and wheat yields were highest (51.47 and 48.60 q ha-1 , respectively) with 100% NPK + 15 t FYM ha−1 and lowest in control (13.72 and 11.85 q ha-1 , respectively).

Studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of inorganic and organic fertilization on growth, yield of wheat and nutrient status of the soil. Significant differences in the vegetative growth parameters viz. plant height, number of green leaves, number of tillers/meter row length and yield parameters viz. Spike length, number of spikelets per spike, number of grains/ear, number of ear heads/m2 , test weight, straw yield and biological yield was highest under the application of 50 % recommended dose of fertilizers along with application of 5 t/ha vermicompost (T7).

Effect of integrated nitrogen management on soil properties and yield of wheat in salt affected soil
Field experiment were conducted at the Student Instructional Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Narendra Nagar, Faizabad (U.P.), India, to study the effect of integrated nitrogen management on soil properties and yield of wheat in salt affected soil. The result showed that maximum grain yield and available nitrogen were recorded in treatment receiving 1:1 ratio of urea + pressmud (T7) whereas, maximum build up in organic carbon in plot receiving 1:3 ratio of urea + FYM (T5).

An experiment was conducted during 2015-2016 in sandy loams at Jammu under the INM in maize-wheat system. The results revealed that the application of recommended levels of NPK to maize-wheat with FYM, VC and biofertilizers (Azotobacter and phosphate solubilizing bacteria) resulted in grain 66.53 per cent and straw 13.00 per cent increase over control in maize and wheat yields, respectively. Increasing levels of 50% N+recom.P+K+S+Zn+B +VC+Azoto+PSB significantly increased the yield of both the crops.
