The experiment was done during kharif season 2016 at farmer field in Bhadohi district near Varanasi to ascertain the validity of developed fertilizer adjustment equations based on Soil Test Crop Response for targeted yield of this crop. These equations were compared with other fertilizer use practices such as farmer’s practice and general recommendation. Fertilizer doses for different crop under STCR based fertilizers application treatment were calculated using fertilizer adjustment equations for targeted yield of different crops. The percent increase in yield ware 17.11 and 37.

Soil testing is a useful tool that can help to ensure the efficient use of applied plant nutrients. Soil tests measure the quantity of a nutrient that is extracted from a soil by a particular extractant. The measured quantity of extractable nutrient in soil is then used to predict the crop yield response to application of the nutrient through fertilizer, manure and any other amendments. As soil test levels increase for a particular nutrient, the expected crop yield response to additions of that nutrient decreases.

Linseed and mustard are the most important prehistoric crops in the world, usually cultivated as major rabi oilseeds in India. The major constraints for low productivity are inadequate supply of nutrients and poor production practices. Technological demonstrations on linseed and mustard were conducted at 58 locations covering 24.4 ha area in participatory mode using improved linseed cultivar JLS 9, JLS 23 and mustard (pusa mahak) during 2007-08 to 2011-12.

To study the soil test based fertilizer recommendation for mustard crop on grain and straw yield, nutrient uptake and soil test data were used for obtaining basic parameter viz., Nutrient requirement, contribution of nutrients from soil, fertilizer and organic manure. It was found that 5.22 kg N, 0.99 kg P2O5 and 4.25 kg K2O were required for producing one quintal of grain.

Field experiment was conducted to development of fertilizer adjustment equations for rice crop in Vertisol of Chhattisgarh plain region of Chhattisgarh state. Rice crop required 1.52 kg N, 0.38 kg P and 2.03 kg K to produce one quintal grain yield. Fertilizer and soil test efficiencies were estimated 27.75, 24.60 and 87.15 percent and 25.60, 66.35 and 15.85 percent respectively for N P K. The efficiency of FYM in terms of available nutrient was evaluated as 13.85, 7.10 and 11.05 percent respectively.

Soil Test Crop Response studies involving Integrated Plant Nutrition System (STCR - IPNS) were conducted on a Typic Haplustalf of Tamil Nadu, Southern India for developing fertiliser prescriptions for desired yield targets of rice- rice sequence under System of Rice Intensification (SRI). By adopting the Inductive cum Targeted yield model, variations in soil fertility with reference to soil available nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were established and test crop experiment was conducted with rice-rice sequence. The findings pertaining to rabi season is discussed in this paper.

Two pot experiment was conducted at Instructional Farm of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Raigarh (C.G.) during Kharif season, 2015 for identification of yield limiting nutrients through crop response in Vertisol and Inceptisol of Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh with rice (MTU-1010) as test crop. The experiments were laid out in Completely Randomized Design with 11 treatments and 3 replications. Yield attributing characters viz. effective tillers, filled grains panicle-1 and grain and straw yields of rice in both soil types were significantly influenced by nutrient omission treatments.
