Transparent, superhydrophilic materials in photovoltaic (PV) applications are indispensable for their self-cleaning function, which can protect the solar cell and raise the efficiency of solar modules. This study presented the synthesis and fabrication of TiO2/SiO2 films by the dip-coating method of sol−gel solutions on glass.

In this paper, a numerical method based on the single-diode model is utilized to forecast the cell temperature and solar irradiance, which greatly relate to the increase of the series resistance. After that, the degradation of PV modules is detected through analyzing the incrementing progress of series resistance of PV modules.

Through rigorous rural electrification projects, over 99.97% of Bhutan’s households now have access to electricity, which is predominantly generated from run-of-the-river hydropower plants. Despite this achievement, around 5% of the rural households still do not have access to electricity to meet their cooking load demands and, therefore, they extensively rely on firewood, LPG, and kerosene for cooking purposes. Apart from hydropower, penetration of other renewable sources such as solar and wind power in the country is negligible.

The study examines how bypass diode could improve maximum power extraction characteristics of a PV module under shaded conditions. The study clarifies the fundamental mechanism of reduction in output power under shading condition for different configurations. It was observed that the reduction of power depends upon type of shade on module, shaded area and configuration of PV module. It was found that under partial shading conditions, a solar PV system may exhibit multiple peaks in its P–V characteristics.

A Solar Photovoltaic-Thermoelectric generator hybrid system is analyzed in the present study. The experimental setup was examined under Udaipur climatic conditions (24°35′7″ N; 73°42′45″ E). The I-V, P-V characteristics and efficiency of sub systems and hybrid system were estimated. The ambient temperature, the solar irradiation, the PV module surface and rear temperature, hot and cold side temperature of TEG, wind velocity affects the performance of the system. The overall efficiency of hybrid system was observed to be higher than the PV system alone.

This paper will present and discuss heat treatment of EVA and the extent to which EVA is cured (gel content) using heat treatment, and its correlation to solubility and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) curves. Based on the correlation between the DSC and solubility techniques performed on a given EVA, the treatment needed to obtain sufficient curing can be deduced.

In this paper, the effects of the hot-spotted cell on PV module were evaluated. The experimental observation was based on 100 kW PV array composed of 20 PV modules. It was found that an increasing number of hot-spotted solar cells in a PV module would likely increase its output power loss.

This paper investigates the effect of defects on the electrical properties of monocrystalline silicon solar cells (mono-Si/m-Si). It characterises work function in terms of surface potential (SP) using scanning probe microscopy (SPM), and Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) in force modulation mode, as opposed to the usual amplitude modulation mode.

The solar powered aeroponic system was developed for cultivation of high valued crops. The aeroponic system was developed by using different components like SPV (Solar Photovoltaic) module, growth chamber, mister, nutrient tank, D.C pump, battery and digital timer. The system comprising a 120 W SPV module with 84 W D.C motor pump, main, submain, laterals and misters. The mister discharge, pump discharge, current, voltage, pump pressure and discharge of misters were tested. The mister with discharge of 7.2 lph in the pressure range was 3.8 kg cm-2 provided by the pump.

Traditionally the hand lever operated knapsack sprayer was used by the Indian farmers for spraying of pesticide, weedicide, fungicides, liquid chemicals etc. however it involves fatigue due to continuous hand lever operation results in the low efficiency. Now a days the power operated knapsack sprayers available in the market are being used for spraying operation in production agriculture but it is associated with more vibrations, noise levels causes the high level of fatigue during the operation hence labors are reluctant to use this types of sprayer.

Galactic cosmic ray intensities (GCRs) observed by five neutron monitors (NMs) have been used to study cosmic ray modulations between 1971 and 2007. The influence of interplanetary magnetic polarity (IMF) states has been studied for the A < 0 and A > 0 epochs. A comparison of the spectra for both positive IMF polarities indicated different solar origins. The spectra have different power amplitudes and most peaks of different locations.

Galactic cosmic rays are charged particles created in our galaxy and beyond. They propagate through interstellar space to eventually reach the heliosphere and Earth. Their transport in the heliosphere is subjected to four modulation processes: diffusion, convection, adiabatic energy changes and particle drifts. Time-dependent changes, caused by solar activity which varies from minimum to maximum every 11 years, are reflected in cosmic ray observations at and near Earth and along spacecraft trajectories.
