Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer mixed with different weight ratios of 1-ethyl-3- methyltricynomethanide (EMIm-TCM) ranging from 0 to 30 wt% were used to develop solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs). The structural, electrical, and electrochemical properties of the SPEs films were extensively studied.

In this paper, we report on the synthesis of solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) on the basis of 95 wt.% PEO and 5 wt. of anhydrous cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate (CoCl2 6H2O), hereafter called PCL5, by the spin-coating technique using different types of glass (normal, quartz, ITO) substrates. The PCL5 electrolyte exhibits the highest conductivity and the lowest optical bandgap and hence, it was selected as a component to fabricate the organic single-layer device.

Excellent conducting solid polymer electrolyte films were prepared by using Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Iron alum through a reactive blending process. The effect of the concentration of the iron alum on the conducting behavior was studied in detail by varying the concentration of the alum in the PVA matrix. The functionality was studied using the Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic technique.

A solid acid membranes based on poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), sodium bromide (NaBr) and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) were prepared by a solution casting method. The morphological, IR, electrical and optical properties of the (PVA)0.7(NaBr)0.3(H3PO4)xM solid acid membranes where x = 0.00, 0.85, 1.7, 3.4, 5.1 M were investigated. The variation of film morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. FTIR spectroscopy has been used to characterize the structure of polymer and confirms the complexation of phosphoric acid with host polymeric matrix.

A solid polymer electrolyte system based on poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(3,4-Etylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) complexed with magnesium bromide (MgBr2) salt was prepared using solution cast technique. The ionic conductivity is observed to increase with increasing MgBr2 concentration. The maximum conductivity was found to be 9.89 • 106 S/cm for optimum polymer composite film (30 wt.% MgBr2) at room temperature. The increase in the conductivity is attributed to the increase in the number of ions as the salt concentration is increased.
