This paper presents a detailed experimental validation of an orthotropic laminate model to predict the vibroacoustic behavior of flat sandwich-composite plates with foam core. The accuracy of the model is investigated using a thin sandwich plate over a large frequency band. The sound transmission loss (STL) across several clamped sandwich-composite plates with polyurethane foam core is compared for different core density, different core thickness and different skin thickness.

Effect of three types of sound frequencies falling within the audible range (20 Hz- 20 KHz), on bacterial growth and the antibiotic susceptibility was investigated. The bacteria used as the test organism (E. coli) was found to register better (17.5- 25.67%) growth at a frequency below 1 KHz (432 Hz), but surprisingly were witnessed to register an extremely poor (83.45-86.72%) growth at a frequency above 1 KHz (4 KHz) under the influence of distinctive sound frequencies.

The paper studies the use of Contraction resources in the English and Vietnamese editorials based on Appraisal Theory. Firstly, the paper presents Appraisal Theory, especially Contraction. Then, it is about the data and methods. The findings denote that both English and Vietnamese editors make use of a variety of strategies in Contraction. However, in the English editorials, there is a much lower frequency of Contraction which makes the English texts sound less affirmative and authoritative but more dialogically expansive than the Vietnamese ones.
