Study on effect of dates of sowing on incidence of insect pests on castor genotypes revealed that incidence of Achaea janata was observed when castor was sown either early or late, however there was a decrease in larval incidence when the crop was sown late during the month of August as compared to that during July. Maximum of 2.73 larvae were observed on 48-1 when sown early which was reduced to 1.07 with late sowing.

The first picking yield becomes available after about 4 months of sowing the crop while its final harvesting is done after 6 months, the cotton yield forecast on this basis is feasible about 2 months before harvesting.

Knol khol (Brassica oleracea var. Gongylodes L.) is one of the important cruciferous vegetable crops of mid hills of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a short duration crop, biennial showing seed maturiy in the month of April-May.Its maturity coincides with the sowing of maize crop which is the main staple crop of the region. To enable the farmers to go for knolkhol seed production, a two year field experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Rajouri, SKUAST-Jammu during 2011-12 and 2012-13.

A field experiment was conducted at Boodamanahalli village, (Bangalore rural district) to know the effect of tikka disease, caused together by Cercospora arachidicola and Cercosporidium personatum on biochemical parameters viz., total sugars, total phenols and total proteins as influenced by different sowing dates in groundnut. It included two varieties, TMV-2 a highly susceptible one and GBPD-4 a resistant with nine sowing dates starting from December 2008 to August 2009 at monthly intervals.

Seeds of Gmelina arborea many times do not germinate due to unknown reason. So the study was initiated to determine optimum stage of fruit maturity (green, yellow and yellow brown), suitable growing environment (agro-net shade and open field condition) and sowing time (August, September, October, November, December and January) on germination and seedling growth. Significant differences were exhibited among the fruit maturity levels, growing environment and sowing time for all the traits.

Afield experiment was conducted at National Seed Project, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru (Karnataka) during 2017-18 to study the effect of sowing time under changing climatic condition and standardization of date of sowing in finger millet. Seven popular varieties of finger millet (short duration GPU-48; medium durationGPU-28 -GPU-67, INDAF-7 and ML-365; long duration MR-1 and MR-6) were planted in RCBD at every month. The observations were recorded at monthly intervals and results were analyzed using suitable statistical tool.

Field experiments conducted during 2016-2017 for the management of wilt of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.), eleven varieties namely, Jeevan, Sweta, Parvati, Surbhi, NDL-2004-05, Kiran, RLC-92, Indira Alsi, Dipika, Shekhar including susceptible cultivar Chambal were sown in the month of October, 2016. Out of 11 varieties, the maximum initial plant population (537.67 and 516.33/ plot) was noted with Shekhar followed by NDL-2004-05 respectively. Susceptible check Chambal has average initial plant population of 490.67/plot after germination.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) is an important spice crop which belongs to the family Apiaceae and originated from Mediterranean Region. This study was conducted at the Department of Spices and Plantation Crops, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during 2017 to study the effect of season of sowing on biochemical and physiological parameters of coriander under two different growing condition viz., open field and shade net (50%) with the variety CO (CR) 4.

An experiment was conducted during kharif 2017-18 to generate information on yield and yield contributing traits in elite genotypes of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). The present investigation was undertaken to study the genetic variability for cane yield (t/ha), commercial cane sugar (t/ha), sucrose % in juice, brix % in juice, CCS % in juice, number of millable canes (0,000 / ha), stalk length (m), stalk diameter (cm) and single cane weight (Kg) at harvesting stage. The significant differences were observed for all the traits studied.

The agriculture sector benefits more from mobile phones in the developing countries as it saves money, time and offers accurate advantage for farmers. The mobile phone system can be used to alert villagers about disease outbreaks and other important agricultural information. Many of the farmers suffer from lack of up to date, accurate market price information because of their remote location, or simply because they don‘t know how and where to get trustworthy information. A study was undertaken to assess the potential and use of mobile phones by farmers.

This present study was elucidated the effects of different pre sowing seed treatments on stored seeds of Desi Chickpea seeds. Seeds were stored in plastic bags for one planting season, i.e. 8 months under ambient and control conditions of Prayagraj. After storage, seeds were treated with different doses of Polyethylene Glycol 6000, sodium chloride, magnetic and electric seed treatments.

Under such conditions, the cultivation of perennial component of vegetation, particularly the fruit trees, would provide opportunity for sustainable source of livelihood to the inhabitants of the region.
