Soybean genotypes in response
-
Soybean downy mildew (SDM), caused by Peronospora manshurica (Pm), is a major fungal disease in soybean. To date, little is known regarding the defense mechanism at molecular level and how soybean plants response to Pm infection. In this study, differential gene expression in SDM-resistant (HR) and SDM-susceptible (HS) genotype was analyzed by RNA-seq to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) following Pm infection.

Phosphorus (P) is essential for plant growth and development, and low-phosphorus (LP) stress is a major factor limiting the growth and yield of soybean. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have recently been reported to be key regulators in the responses of plants to stress conditions, but the mechanism through which LP stress mediates the biogenesis of lncRNAs in soybean remains unclear.

Small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) belong to the class of molecular chaperones that respond to biotic and abiotic stresses in plants. A previous study has showed strong induction of the gene GmHsp22.4 in response to the nematode Meloidogyne javanica in a resistant soybean genotype, while repression in a susceptible one.

The aim of this study is trying to understand the effect of different environmental factors and their interactions on the stability for some yield traits of soybean entries through different experiments including three locations, two years, two growing dates and all interactions among them in addition, molecular characterizations for the previous selected genotypes under studying by using RAPD-PCR analysis to determine all genetic differences between them which responsible for highly score of grain yield and quality traits under any environmental conditions.

Among abiotic stresses, drought is the most common reducer of crop yields. The slow-wilting soybean genotype PI 416937 is somewhat robust to water deficit and has been used previously to map the trait in a bi-parental population.

Flavonol glycosides (FGs) are major components of soybean leaves and there are substantial differences in FG composition among genotypes. The first objective of this study was to identify genes responsible for FG biosynthesis and to locate them in the soybean genome.

Charcoal rot (CR) disease caused by Macrophomina phaseolina is responsible for significant yield losses in soybean production. Among the methods available for controlling this disease, breeding for resistance is the most promising. The present study helped to evaluate soybean genotypes for identifying promising genotypes which proved to be resistant to charcoal rot. The present study was carried out at Department of Agricultural Botany, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during the year 2018-19 to evaluate various genotypes of soybean for charcoal rot resistance.
