Spawn run time

The cultivation of Pleurotus cornucopiae, the branched oyster mushroom is not very common in India but is relished for its pleasant flavour and mild taste. Grain substrates for its spawn production have not been evaluated yet but, wheat grains are commonly used for the same. So, five different grain substrates viz., wheat, barley, kodo, jowar and maize were tested, for spawn run period, mycelia growth, fruit body characters and yield of said mushroom on five different substrates. It was found that minimum time for spawn run was taken by jowar grains (7.

Since ancient times, mushrooms have been considered as a special kind of food. Blue oyster mushroom is a novel species with very large fruit body, blue coloured pinheads becoming light white on maturity, high yielder, palatable with meaty flavour and attractive keeping quality. Different types of cereal grains i.e. maize, sorghum, bajra, wheat and paddy were taken to see their effect on spawn development and Different substrates i.e. wheat straw, paddy straw, mustard straw, sesamum straw and pigeon pea straw significantly influenced the spawn run period, pinhead initiation and yield of H.

This study was carried out on the cultivation of five species of Pleurotus using fermentation substrate. Paddy (Oryza sativa) was used for spawn production. Five species of Pleurotus (identified and selected in the isolation process from mushroom farms in Lamdong province) with prepared compost were examined for time of spawn running, infection rate and biological efficiency.

Agricultural byproducts which are rich in Lignin content can be utilized for Oyster mushroom production, which feed on these substrates for growth and development of mycelium subsequently fruiting bodies to become Edible mushrooms. Here an effort was made to know the productivity of this mushroom on different Agricultural substrates which are easily available locally viz.

Under present investigation, AMMI (Additive main effects and multiplicative interaction) model was validated to study and identify the stable genotype in Volvariella volvacea (Paddy straw mushroom) under varied environmental conditions. A slight change in temperature and humidity can cause larger difference in the crop yield. Moreover, the identification of strain selection criteria for better yield is also needed to be identified for genetic improvement.

The experiment laid out at mushroom production technology laboratory of Department of Plant Pathology, Haryana Agricultural University during August 2013 and April 2014. Paddy straw mushroom was raised by using standard production technology given by DMR, Solan. Total ten treatments and control replicated three times were evaluated for effect on spawn run time. The results showed that maximum time taken for spawn run time recorded in control, however minimum in Novaluron 10 EC (0.5 ml/l) which was statistically at par with Chlorpyrifos 20 EC (4 ml/l) and Novaluron (1 and 1.
