Comparative analysis of an integral component of bacterial cell division from the Lactococcus and Bacillus genera

The objective of this study was to analyze the features of FtsZ proteins in the Bacillus and Lactococcus genus groups. By exploring the available genomes, we identified and characterized FtsZ proteins in 19 Bacillus and 22 Lactococcus species.

The conservation status of bats (mammalia: Chiroptera) in Cat Ba national park, northern Vietnam

This paper provides an update on the current status of each species based on data from recent field surveys with reference to previous publications and the current IUCN Red List (iucnredlist.org). Results from the recent surveys included eight individuals provisionally identified as Myotis cf. pilosus. The taxonomic status of five species (Aselliscus dongbacanus, Hipposideros gentilis, Hipposideros grandis, Miniopterus magnater, Murina harrisoni) are updated following recent assessments.

New findings and an extensive description of Rhinolophus marshalli Thonglongya, 1973 in Vietnam

Citings of Marshall’s horseshoe bat in areas where it has been previously found have been rare. Prior to this study, little was known about this species. By making use of data and material that were obtained in a series of field surveys conducted between 2006 and 2011, this paper provides an extensive view of the species and presents new findings important to future systematic studies and conservation assessments.

Application of PGIS and zonation for conserving Saola species in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam provinces, Vietnam

Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam provinces are recognized by the scientists as an important area for Saola which is an endemic species. However Saola is being on the brink of extinction as a result of hunting and demands for timber as well as non-timber products. This paper presents some studied results on applying PGIS and Zonation conservation planning model in researching the distribution and predicting the priority zones of Saola species in Saola landscape that locates along the southern of Thua Thien Hue and the northern of Quang Nam landscape frontier.
