Drosophila suzukii is a highly destructive pest species, causing substantial economic losses in soft fruit production. To better understand migration patterns, gene flow and adaptation in invaded regions, we studied the genetic structure of D. suzukii collected across Italy, where it was first observed in 2008.

Sexual size dimorphism and sex determination by external measurements in the Redshank Tringa totanus
The Redshank is a wader species that shows no sexual dimorphism in plumage, but some dimorphism in size. To propose a method for sexing birds of this species by linear measurements, a discriminant function analysis was applied to a set of morphometric traits in birds captured during the spring migration in southern Belarus. In total, 113 males and 75 females were measured and sexed molecularly. On average, females were larger in all measurements than males. The most sexually dimorphic trait was wing length, which was included in the discriminant function analysis.

Feather mites (Astigmata) are among the most common ectosymbionts that live on birds. The present research was conducted between 2010 and 2013 in the Kızılırmak delta Cernek Bird Ringing Station in Samsun, Turkey. Assessments of the taxonomy, collection methods, and the periodic host-species relationships of the mites collected were conducted for 591 individuals of 10 bird species belonging to the family Sylviidae captured using mist nets during the bird migration periods. Ten feather mite species were identified from the families Proctophyllodidae, Analgidae, and Trouesartidae.

Maintaining landscape connectivity through identifying movement corridors is the most recommended conservation strategy to reduce the negative impacts of habitat loss and isolation. The basis of most connectivity modelling approaches for modelling corridors is that species choose movement pathways based on the same criteria they used to choose habitats. However, species behave differently in using landscape elements for moving than for selecting habitat. In other words, suitability of a given landscape feature may differ between moving and habitat use stages.

In this study, the first case of aberrant coloration, namely xanthochroism or xanthism, in the thinlip grey mullet, Chelon ramada (Teleostei: Mugilidae), was reported. The specimen was caught by a purse seiner in November 2019, in İzmir Bay, in the Aegean Sea, and was a female, with mature ovaries, which indicated that it had been in spawning migration or activity on the sampling date.

Willows are widely distributed in the northern hemisphere and have good adaptability to different living environment. The increasing of genome and transcriptome data provides a chance for comparative analysis to study the evolution patterns with the different origin and geographical distributions in the Salix phylogeny.

Coilia nasus (C. nasus) is an important anadromous fish species that resides in the Yangtze River of China, and has high ecological and economical value. However, wild resources have suffered from a serious reduction in population, attributed to the over-construction of water conservancy projects, overfishing, and environmental pollution.

Previous study showed that mitochondrial ND6 (mitND6) gene missense mutation resulted in NADH dehydrogenase deficiency and was associated with tumor metastasis in several mouse tumor cell lines. In the present study, we investigated the possible role of mitND6 gene nonsense and missense mutations in the metastasis of human lung adenocarcinoma.

Nanomedicine is a very promising field and nanomedical drugs have recently been used as therapeutic agents against cancer. In a previous study, we showed that Nanoceria (NCe), nanoparticles of cerium oxide, significantly inhibited production of reactive oxygen species, cell migration and invasion of ovarian cancer cells in vitro, without affecting cell proliferation and significantly reduced tumor growth in an ovarian cancer xenograft nude model.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most common type of cancer worldwide. New anti-cancer agents are needed for treating late stage colorectal cancer as most of the deaths occur due to cancer metastasis. A recently developed compound, 3c has shown to have potent antitumor effect; however the mechanism underlying the antitumor effect remains unknown.

Formation of the Caucasian floristic complexes remains as a main problem up today. After the status of the west region of the especially protected natural areas of Azerbaijan have been changed in the state level. For the first time there has been made the inventory of the flora of the Geygel National Park, EldarPinery, Garayazy, Korchay State Natural Reservations. At the result there have been determined 107 families, 467 genera and 1200 species.

Endophytes are microbes that live within plants such as maize (corn, Zea mays L.) without causing disease. It is generally assumed that most endophytes originate from soil. If this is true, then as humans collected, domesticated, bred and migrated maize globally from its native Mexico, they moved the species away from its native population of endophyte donors.

Forest species ranges are confined by environmental limitations such as cold stress. The natural range shifts of pine forests due to climate change and proactive-assisted population migration may each be constrained by the ability of pine species to tolerate low temperatures, especially in northern latitudes or in high altitudes.

The Vertical distribution of Collembola in different soil layers namely, organic layer (O), 0-5 cm soil depth and 5-10 cm soil depth were studied. The majority of Collembola were recorded from the ‘O’ layer and upper layer in all the season except some exception in hot summer. During summer season, vertical migration of Collembola were seen whereas, such trend is very least seen during winter season where sufficient soil humidity was maintained. Same pattern was seen at species level also expected certain thermopilic species.

An attempt has been made to determine the phylogenetic relationship to trace out the evolutionary pattern of the test sequence of Xiphinema pachydermum partial 28S rRNA gene and to find out relationship of the same with other selected sequences of NCBI by constructing phylogenetic trees. Nucleotide sequence of 28S ribosomal RNA gene of Xiphinema pachydermum from Solan, Himachal Pradesh (AM779749.1) showed maximum homology of 93% with Xiphinema inaequale isolate HP 28S large subunit ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence (HM163210.1) from Baijnath, Himachal Pradesh.

The clinical manifestations of schistosomiasis pass by acute, sub acute and chronic stages that mirror the immune response to infection. The later includes in succession innate, TH1 and TH2 adaptive stages, with an ultimate establishment of concomitant immunity. Some patients may also develop late complications, or suffer the sequelae of co-infection with other parasites, bacteria or viruses. Acute manifestations are species-independent; occur during the early stages of invasion and migration, where infection-naivety and the host’s racial and genetic setting play a major role.
