Epidermoid cysts are tumors that ocur in most parts of the body and are often treated by neurosurgeons, but intramedullary localizations of epidermoid cysts are very rare. After surgical removal of the tumor, the pathology confirmed the radiological diagnosis of spinal epidermoid cyst. MRI reduces the delay in diagnosis of spinal cord tumors but should be guided by clinical judgment.

We report a rare case in medical literature of a patient with pineal gland teratoma and uncommon metastases. Usually, metastases of this kind of tumor are located in several organs such as lung and breast, but here we found metastases to the spinal cord and vertebrae.

We hypothesized that the addition of dexmedetomidine in a clinically relevant dose to propofolremifentanil anesthesia regimen does not exert an adverse effect on motor-evoked potentials (MEP) and somatosensory-evoked potentials (SSEP) in adult patients undergoing thoracic spinal cord tumor resection.

Ependymal tumors are pathologically defined intrinsic neoplasms originating in the intracranial compartments or the spinal cord that affect both children and adults. The recently integrated classification of ependymomas based on both histological and molecular characteristics is capable of subgrouping patients with various prognoses.

Peptides which should be generated from the neuropeptide FF (NPFF) precursor were identified in a neuronal (human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y) cell line and in COS-7 cells after transient transfection of the human proNPFFAcDNA and were comparedwith those detected in themouse spinal cord. After reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatogra-phy of soluble material, NPFF-related peptides were im-munodetected with antisera raised against NPFF and identified by using on-line capillary liquid chromatography/ nanospray ion trap tandem mass spectrometry. ...

Pain Pain occurs with variable frequency in the cancer patient: 25–50% of patients present with pain at diagnosis, 33% have pain associated with treatment, and 75% have pain with progressive disease. The pain may have several causes. In ~70% of cases, pain is caused by the tumor itself—by invasion of bone, nerves, blood vessels, or mucous membranes or obstruction of a hollow viscus or duct.
