The objectives of the thesis: Investigate the role of A20 in regulating four physiological functions of DCs including maturation, cytokine secretion, migration and apoptosis; investigate the effect of A20 on the regulating three molecular signals including NF-κB, STAT1 and STAT3 related to the physiological process of DCs.

STAT1 has been attributed a function as tumor suppressor. However, in breast cancer data from microarray analysis indicated a predictive value of high mRNA expression levels of STAT1 and STAT1 target genes belonging to the interferon-related signature for a poor response to therapy.

The current research was designed to study DNA sequence variation within Signal transducer and activator of trancription 1 (STAT1) gene and to find association of STAT1 gene variants (if any) with milk traits in Gaolao cattle. DNA was isolated from around 40 Gaolao cows from farmers herd and farm in breeding tract. The STAT1 gene regions of 314 bp, 850 bp and 154 bp fragments were amplified using STAT1G1, STAT1G2 and STAT1G4 primers respectively.

The signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) family of proteins function to activate gene transcription downstream of myriad cytokine and growth factor signals. The prototype STAT proteins, STAT1 and STAT2, are required for innate and adaptive antimicrobial immune responses that result from interferon signal transduction. While many viruses have evolved the ability to avoid these antiviral cytokines, the Paramyxoviruses are distinct in their abilities to interfere directly with STAT proteins. ...
