Stochastic frontier models

This study will provide an insight about the exports of environmental products from Vietnam, the determinants impacting on the export performance and focus on the APEC list of environmental goods that is consisted of 54 commodities in 54 different 6 digit HS code. By using stochastic frontier gravity model for the panel data of top 20 partner countries and regions of Vietnam on environmental goods exports from 2001 to 2016, the estimated results illustrate that GDP of partners nations, participating in the ASEAN and exchange rate have positive impacts on the exports of Vietnam.

This study applies a combination of DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model and the SFA (Stochastic Frontier Analysis) model to measure the impacts of M&A activities on the banking efficiency in Vietnam from 2011 to 2018. The results show that merge and acquisition (M&A) activities had a positive effect that reflects in an increase of the index of banking efficiency from 2011 to 2013.

The second question requires that we build an understanding of how the policy instrument effects production and productive efficiency. Our approach is similar to recent stochastic frontier analyses with panel data (Cornwell et al. (1990), Kumbhakar (1990)), which allow intercepts and some coefficients of the production function to vary between firms and over time.

Measurement of efficiency started with Farrell (1957) who, following Debreu (1951) and Koopmas (1951), proposed a division of efficiency into two components: technical efficiency, which represents a firm’s ability to produce a maximum level of output from a given level of inputs, and allocative efficiency, which is the ability of a firm to use inputs in optimal proportions, given their respective prices and available technology. The combination of these two measures yields the level of economic efficiency.

Xu and Gu proposed an adaptive control scheme for space robots in both joint space and operational space [Xu et al., 1992, Gu & Xu, 1993]. However, the adaptive control proposed in [Xu et al., 1992] requires perfect attitude control and the adaptive control in [Gu & Xu, 1993] is developed based on an under-actuated system on the assumption that the acceleration of the base-satellite is measurable.
