  • Energy requirement for cutting of different biomass materials depends on their properties and size which plays an important role in gasification process. In present study, the cutting energy required by the size reduction machine to cut selected different biomass materials viz., Pigeon pea stalk (Cajanus cajan), Cotton stalk (Gossypium hirsutum) and vilatyee babool (Prosopis juliflora) into different length of sizes viz., 25-50, 50-75 and 75-100 mm was assessed. And also their physico-chemical and thermal properties were determined using the standard procedure.

  • The study was conducted to investigate some physical properties of soybean at various moisture levels. The dependence of physical properties of soybean on moisture content was determined. In the moisture range from 9.98- 27.10% (wb).The soaked soybean size increased linearly in length (6.34 - 8.95 mm), width (5.42 -6.50 mm), and thickness (4.23 - 5.35 mm) according to final moisture content. In this study, length, width and thickness models based on moisture content are defined as linear models and the regression coefficients (R2 ) related to these models are found between 0.84, 0.72 and 0.

  • The preparation and mechanical properties of bamboo - glass fiber mat reinforced polyropylene hybrid composite (BGMRPC) were investigated. The results showed that properies of the composite depend on the amount of glass fiber mat and the hybrid method. Replacing 13.5% of bamboo fiber mat by glass fiber mat, the tensile, flexural and impact strengths of BGMRPC were increased by 33%, 28% and 79% respectively comparing to bamboo fiber mat reinforced polypropylene composite (BMRPC). The moisture absorption of BMRPC and BGMRPC was studied and compared.
