Chromobacterium violaceum is a rare pathogen that causes potentially fatal infections in human beings. It is a normal inhabitant of soil and stagnant water of the tropical and subtropical areas. Chromobacterium violaceum infection usually occurs after broken skin exposed to contaminated soil or water. The organism is mostly resistant to pencillins and cephalosporins and sensitive to fluoroquinolones and aminoglycosides. Rapid progression to sepsis with metastatic abscesses is the striking feature of C. violaceum infection .

Plant nutrition plays a major role in quantitative and qualitative crop production in bringing sustainability and plants require seventeen essential elements for their normal growth and development. Among these, those elements required smaller in quantity is called micronutrients (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, B, Cl, Mo and Ni). Micronutrients are essentially as important as macronutrients to have better growth, yield and quality in plants.

Litchi is a popular subtropical fruit crop in India. It is the most delicious, juicy and nutritious fruit and mostly grown in Eastern India. Litchi cultivation is a source of livelihood security for a large population in litchi growing states as it provides both on-farm and off-farm employment. The world scenario of litchi cultivation reveals that India is the second-largest producer of litchi after China with a total acreage over 93,300 ha and a yearly output of over 568,200 t in 2016-17. However, with a productivity level of just 6.

Phosphorus is a major limiting factor for plant growth particularly in the tropics and subtropics areas. It play an important role in many biochemical process viz., energy storage and transfer, cell division, cell enlargement and several other processes in plants. The availability of P to plants is a problem owing to its slow diffusion and high fixation in soils. Due to low solubility and mobility in soil, phosphorus use efficiency is very low ranges from 10-20% in normal soil.

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.)Walp.) is a poor men’s protein source. It is one of the most ancient human food sources and an important grain legume and hay crop in many tropical and subtropical regions. It is grown in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh widely as rainfed crop. Cowpea is affected by many diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi. Among the fungal diseases, the charcoal rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi.) Goid causes significant loss in yield. M. phaseolinais a soil borne plant pathogen with a very wide host range.

There are 115 million operational holdings in the country and about 80 % are marginal and small farmers. To fulfill the basic needs of house hold including food, feed, fodder, fiber, etc. warrant an attention about bio intensive cropping system (BICS).Global warming and its consequences are amongst the most serious problems of the present century. Agricultural crop residue burning contribute towards the emission of greenhouse gases (CO2, N2O, CH4), air pollutants (CO, NH3, NOx, SO2, NMHC, volatile organic compounds), particulates matter and smoke thereby posing threat to human health.

A field experiment was carried out to observe the effect of plant growth regulators on growth and flowering of pansy (Viola x wittrockiana Gams.), a beautiful winter annual suitable for bedding, ground cover and potted plant. Experimental site have subtropical humid climate and sandy loam soil with medium fertility status. Seedlings were planted in raised bed with randomised block design and grown carefully. Plants were treated with foliar application of paclobutrazol, cycocel, ethrel and GA3. Each chemical consists of two different doses making total eight treatments and control.
