Dietary nutrients not only affect productive and reproductive performance but also milk composition traits like milk protein and milk lactose. This study was conducted to observe effect of copper and zinc feeding on milk protein and milk lactose when these are fed in pre and post partum stage to kankrej cows. Twenty Kankrej pregnant cows (five in each group) at 30 days before the expected date of calving were used to present study and grouped into four groups (five in each group) as control, copper supplemented, zinc supplemented and supplemented with both elements.

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of antioxidant [vitamin E (vit E)] and trace minerals [selenium (Se), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn)], high energy diet supplementation and its effect on allometric and physio-biochemical parameters in crossbred cows during transition period. For this, advanced pregnant crossbred cows (n = 20) of 2nd to 4th parity and lactation potential of >10 L/day at 28 days prepartum were divided into two groups viz. control (CON) and treatment (TRT) consisting of 10 animals each.

The present study was carried out to evolve a safe and strategic supplementation to rice gruel by synchronizing nutrient delivery in the rumen for maximum microbial production. Three in vitro trials were conducted to study the rumen fermentation characteristics of nonprotein nitrogen (NPN) and sulphur sources supplementation to rice gruel with basal diet (Bajra x Napier grass, CO4). Urea and diammonium phosphate (DAP) were used as NPN sources, while copper sulphate and sodium sulphate were used as sulphur sources.

Dietary antioxidants (total ascorbate, α-tocopherol and total carotenoids) and micronutrient (iron, calcium, zinc, copper and manganese) content of 25 fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum L.) genotypes were evaluated under the present investigation. Higher α-tocopherol and total carotenoid content i.e., 43.080±1.542 mg α-tocopherol/100 g dry wt. and 4.890±0.047 g carotenoids/100 g dry wt. was observed in RMt-305. The genotype RMt-143 showed highest iron, calcium and manganese content i.e., 184.11±1.639, 781.20±4.790 and 25.65±0.695 µg/g dry wt., respectively.

This study evaluated effects of organic trace mineral supplementation on hormonal and metabolic profile of primiparous buffaloes. Fourteen animals were randomly divided into two groups control (n=7) and treatment (n=7; Copper@225mg, Zinc@1.0gm per animal per day). Treatment group was supplemented with organic copper at the rate of 225mg and Zinc at rate1.0gm per animal per day respectively, in addition to normal feeding, 60 days before the expected date of calving till the date of artificial insemination.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate blood copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) status of healthy goats (209) managed under semi intensive system in the three different agro-climatic zones of Punjab. For this purpose, two hundred nine blood and hair samples of various breeds of goats were taken. The samples were analyzed for trace minerals by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and the prevalence was recorded. Plasma Cu, Zn and Mn concentrations were significantly (P≤0.05) different among the three zones. The mean plasma Cu (0.57 ± 0.

Failure to grow (ill-thrift) in calves has a negative effect on animal production and health. The present study was carried out from November, 2009 to May, 2013 to investigate the risk factors of ill-thrift in buffalo calves. A total of 344 calves at 78 smallholder farms were selected randomly. A questionnaire was designed to include managemental, nutritional and disease risk factors. Serum selenium, copper, zinc, iron, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium were measured.
