Preclinical in vivo cancer models are essential tools for investigating tumor progression and response to treatment prior to clinical trials. Although treatment modalities are regularly assessed in mice upon tumor growth in vivo, surgical resection remains challenging, particularly in the orthotopic site. Here, we report a successful surgical resection of glioblastoma (GBM) in patient-derived orthotopic xenografts (PDOXs).

Hepatectomy is currently the most effective modality for the treatment of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). The status of the lymph nodes directly affects the choice of surgical method and the formulation of postoperative treatment plans.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiation followed by esophagectomy has been established as the frst-line treatment for locally advanced esophageal cancer. Postoperative enteral nutrition has been widely used to improve perioperative outcomes. However, whether to implement preoperative nutritional intervention during neoadjuvant therapy is yet to be verifed by prospective studies.

Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a severe complication following knee arthroplasty. Therapeutic strategies comprise a combination of surgical and antibiotic treatment modalities and aim to eradicate the infection. Sometimes control of the disease can only be attained by above-knee amputation (AKA). While a vast amount of literature exists illuminating predisposing factors for PJI, risk factors favoring the endpoint AKA in this context are sparsely known.

We quantified the elusive effects of putative factors on the clinical course of early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after primary surgical or nonsurgical curative treatment. Host and tumor factors rather than the initial treatment modalities determine the outcomes of early HCC after primary curative treatment.

Biliary obstruction is a serious clinical condition resulting from either benign or malignant etiologies. For malignant obstruction, curative resection is rarely performed due to disease progression, thus decompression drainage is the management of choice. Percutaneous transhepatic drainage and stenting are effective alternative treatments to surgical bypass and endoscopic biliary drainage when these two modalities are contraindicated.

Use of conservative treatment modalities in osteoarthritis (OA) is suboptimal, which appears to be partly due to patients’ beliefs about treatments. The aim of this study was to develop a research instrument assessing patients’ beliefs about various treatment modalities of hip and knee OA: The ‘Treatment beliefs in OA (TOA) questionnaire’.

Safe and effective non-surgical treatments are an important part of the knee osteoarthritis (OA) treatment algorithm. Cooled radiofrequency ablation (CRFA) and hyaluronic acid (HA) injections are two commonly used modalities to manage symptoms associated with knee OA.

A fracture of the calcaneus can be a painful and disabling injury. Treatment modalities may be conservative or operative. Surgical treatment strategies include open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) techniques, as well as a variety of minimally invasive methods.

The role of postoperative adjuvant treatment for sinonasal malignant melanoma remains unclear. This study evaluates the impact of three different surgical and postoperative adjuvant treatment modalities: Surgery alone (open and endoscopic approaches), surgery plus radiotherapy and surgery, radiotherapy plus chemotherapy on survival of patients with primary sinonasal malignant melanoma (SMM).

Multiple myeloma osteolytic disease affecting the spine results in vertebral compression fractures. These are painful, result in kyphosis, and impact respiratory function and quality of life. We explore the impact of time to presentation on the efficacy of spinal treatment modalities.

The use of indwelling devices both temporary and permanent, in medical and surgical practice has led to the emergence of implant associated infections in the patients admitted in a Tertiary care hospital leading to partial or complete therapeutic failure. The study was conducted to detect and compare biofilm production in bacteria isolated from device related (DR) and non-device related (NDR) infections by Tissue Culture Method (TCP).

The prognosis for individuals with liver cancer is frequently poor. Cancers include those which have metastasized to the liver from elsewhere, reflecting advanced stage disease where cure is rarely possible. Similarly, primary liver cancer frequently complicates chronic liver disease, which further limits therapeutic options. Despite these dismal facts, there are signs that change is imminent. Not only have imaging modalities and surgical techniques improved, but preventive strategies and medical therapies show promise.

An increase in aortic aneurysm occurrence is registered, despite considerable advances in surgical interventions. Consequently, numerous researchers have been trying to improve the understanding the aortic aneurysm pathogenesis in order to facilitate an early diagnosis, to identify new therapeutic targets, and to develop complex therapies.

Although technical advances have resulted in marked improvements in the ability to diag‐ nose and surgically treat primary and metastatic brain tumors, the incidence and mortality rates of these tumors is increasing. Particularly affected are young adults and the elderly. The present standard treatment modalities following surgical resection including cranial irradia‐ tion and systemic or local chemotherapy each have limited efficacy and serious adverse side effects.

Given the range of treatment modalities and their serious side effects, men with prostate cancer who are candidates for radical treatment should have the opportunity to discuss their treatment options with a specialist surgical oncologist and a specialist clinical oncologist. Men presenting with symptoms consistent with radiation-induced enteropathy should be fully investigated (including using flexible sigmoidoscopy) to exclude inflammatory bowel disease or malignancy of the large bowel and to ascertain the nature of the radiation injury.

Most mental health problems begin with early signs or identifiable risks. Even infants and toddlers in the first two years of life can experience risks or more serious conditions. Just over 20 percent of children (or 1 in 5) have either currently or at some point in their lives experienced a seriously debilitating mental disorder. 1 Child mental health disorders are not only very common but can also begin at a very young age.

At the time of Atreya and Dhanwantri (seventh century BC), surgery was considered one of the best methods of treatment for arbuda. They found that herbal medicine treatments against cancer, either in the form of granthi or arbuda, were beneficial only in the beginning stage. Nonetheless, they recorded a group of successful treat- ments for use against gulmas (cystic tumors) and neoplasms of individual organs.
