Mungbean yield is affected by many biological and abiotic factors, in which the blooming flowers and asynchronous in pods are the main causes. The fastest way to improve mungbean yield is to use genotypes available through Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS) mutations and in combination with molecular markers (SSRs and SNPs).

In tomato, different growth regulators play a pivotal role in germination, root development, branching, flower initiation, fruiting, lycopene development, synchronization and early maturation, parthenocarpic fruit development, ripening, TSS, acidity, seed production etcetera. To boost the tomato production in India these versatile resources greatly help the professionals and researchers. Plant species that bear fruits often utilize expansion of ovary (carpel) or accessory tissue as a vehicle for seed dispersal. Once the seed (s) mature, the tissue (s) of the fruit follow habitual progression of cell division and cell expansion, promoting growth of the fruit. As with many developmental processes in plants, plant hormones play important role in the synchronization of signals between the developing seed and its surrounding fruit tissue(s) regulating each phase of fruit development.

The present study was conducted to evaluate 38 greengram genotypes to determinethe nature and extent of variation in the phenological traits related to synchronous maturity. A field trial was laid under a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications; observations were recorded on 17 morphological characters. Analysis of variance revealed significant variation among genotypes for all the characters except for 100 seed weight. Different genotypes were found superior for different characters.
