Gestational Diabetes has been defined as any degree of glucose intolerance with an onset, or first recognition during pregnancy (Beckmann et al., 2005). GDM affects between 2% to 5% of pregnant women. Increasing levels of plasma glucose are associated with birth weight above the 90th percentile, and primary caesarean deliveries and neonatal hyperglycemia. Risk factors for GDM include a history of macrosomia, strong family history of diabetes, and obesity.

Incidence of urinary tract infection (UTI) among antenatal patients attending tertiary care hospital
The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of urinary tract infection among patients attending our hospital viz., Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Urinary tract infection is very common, more than 10 million cases per year in India. The study was conducted among the pregnant women attending the Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre Hyderabad, from the period January 2016 to December 2016.

This is a retrospective study to know the seroprevalence of HIV, HBV, HCV, Syphilis and malaria among voluntary donors in a tertiary care hospital. This study helps in increasing the awareness among clinicians about transfusion transmitted infections. A total of 7836 blood donors were screened during a period from June 2013 to December 2016, at Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, Telangana state. This study included a total of 900 patients, attending the antenatal outpatient at Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Research Centre, Hyderabad. The blood samples were collected for estimation of Total T3, Total T4 and TSH. 27 patients showed hypothyroidism accounting for 3 % incidence. These patients were in the age group of 17 to 32 years.

The aim of the study is to find out the incidence of Hepatitis B surface antigen in antenatal women of SIMS during the period of 23 months from January 1st 2015 to November 2016. Pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic of Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Research Centre formed a part of the study. Informed consent was obtained from them after explaining them the purpose of the study, then blood samples were collected. Hb concentration in the blood was estimated by the indirect cyan methaemoglobin method. A total of 10520 antenatal women in the period from January 2017 to December 2017 were examined, and 4735women i.e., 45% of these women showed the presence of anaemia. 5785 i.e., 55% had no anaemia.

This study was done to know the seroprevalence of Human Immunodeficiency virus in a General population in a tertiary care hospital, in Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Hyderabad Telangana from January 2017 to December 2017. First an ELISA test was conducted and after it is positive it is confirmed using two other tests. The study included 5303 patients, who were screened for HIV. Of these 5303 patients screened, 84 were found to be positive for HIV accounting for an incidence of 1.584%. All positive patients were followed up. First HIV counselling & testing was done.
