The methanol extracts as well as some compounds from this plant exhibited anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant, hepatoprotective and anti-cancer effect, and antiosteoporotic. On going to search for bioactive components from the Vietnamese plant, this paper reported the isolation of seven phenolic compounds including one new from the aerial parts of A. ilicifolius. The cytotoxic activity of the isolates against two cancer cell lines (HepG2 and SK-LU1) were also screened and reported herein.

Zoanthid is a potential natural resource with many biological activities, such as antioxidant, antiviral, antiinflammatory, and cytotoxic activity. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity of 70% ethanol crude extract and dichloromethane fraction from Zoanthus vietnamensis. The total polyphenol content of ethanol and dichloromethane extracts were 19.36 ± 1.37 and 24.95 ± 0.63 mg GAE/g extract, respectively.

Ebook "Q’eqchi’ maya reproductive ethnomedicine" have an extensive pharmacopoeia of medicinal plants used traditionally for reproductive health and fertility, utilizing more than 60 plant species for these health treatments. Ten species were selected for investigation of their estrogenic activity using a reporter gene assay. Nine of the species were estrogenic, four of the species were also antiestrogenic, and two of the extracts were cytotoxic to the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line.

Plants of the genus Polyscias (the family Araliaceae) are represented as perennial shrubs and are commonly cultivated in southeastern Asia and the Pacific regions. Pharmacological studies revealed that Polyscias crude extracts and their isolated compounds exhibited a variety of biological activity, such as antibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxic, immunostimulant, wound healing and anti-asthmatic activities.

In this study, anticholinergic, antidiabetic, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of Reseda lutea L. (R. lutea) were determined. Ethanol extracts of R. lutea (EERL) and water extract of R. lutea (WERL) were prepared for biochemical analysis. The antioxidant capacities of EERL and WERL were evaluated with 6 different methods. In addition, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), α-amylase and α-glycosidase enzyme inhibition by EERL were measured.

The aim of the present research was to investigate the chemical composition, antioxidant and anti-tumor effects of Cordia dichotoma fruit pulp extract “CDFP-extract”. Day after intraperitoneal inoculation of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cells in mice, CDFP-extract was administered orally at 500 mg/kg body weight (equal to 0.10 of determined LD50) for ten consecutive days.

As part of the ongoing efforts to exploit the pharmaceutical potential of domestic cyanobacteria, six strains belonging to the Nostocales order have been isolated from several sampling sites in Hanoi as prerequisite material. The cytotoxic activity evaluation based on the MTT test resulted in four extracts of two strains (HK7 and NK1111) exhibiting the inhibitory activity against HeLa cells, with IC50 values ranging from 84.6 µg/mL to 257.3 µg/mL.

In this study, silver nanoparticle (AgNP) synthesis was carried out using Onosma sericeum Willd. aqueous extract for the first time, with a simple, economical, and green method without the need for any other organic solvent or external reducing or stabilizing agent. A variety of AgNPs, all of different particle sizes, were synthesized by controlling the silver ion concentration, extract volume, temperature, and pH. It was determined that the optimum conditions for AgNP synthesis were 1 mM AgNO3 , pH 8, 25 °C, 20 g/200 mL extract, silver nitrate, and extract ratio 5:1 (v/v).

This study was conducted to investigate the physicochemical, phytochemical, in vitro antidiabetic and anticancer potential of Olea ferruginea R bark. After extraction using Soxhlet, in vitro antidiabetic and cytotoxic activity on human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells was assessed by nonenzymatic glycosylation of hemoglobin assay, alpha-amylase inhibition assay, glucose uptake by yeast cells, and 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay, respectively, and gene expression via real-time polymerase chain reaction.

In the present work, essential oil and fatty acids and extracts obtained from aerial parts of Phlomis linearis Boiss. & Bal. were investigated for chemical composition and biological activities. The phytochemical analyses were conducted with gas chromatographymass spectrometry/flame ionisation detector (GC-MS/FID) and liquid chromatography-mass spectromtetry (LC-MS/MS) techniques. This study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of the methanol extracts of A. maximum (AMM) and A. muricarpum Elmer (AMC) in murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cell line. The total extracts showed that the extracts exhibited low cytotoxicity and potent anti-inflammatory activities by suppressing excessive nitric oxide (NO). The IC50 values of AMC and AMM were found to be 12.67 ± 1.7 µg/mL and 42.7 ± 2.5 µg/mL, respectively.

Most fractional extracts from fruits and leaves of P. tectorius ex. J.P. du Roi collected in the Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien - Hue Province, have remarkable cytotoxic activity against KB cell lines. Of these, ethyl acetate extracts have the best activity (with IC50 values of 24 to 48 µg/mL). The main volatile components were identified by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

A phytochemical investigation of whole Aspidistra letreae plants led to the isolation of 2Hchromen-2-one (1), α-tocopherol (2), (E)-phytol (3), asparenydiol (4) and (25S)-spirost-1β,3α,5β-triol (5). Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR spectral evidences and in comparison with the reported data. Of these, asparenydiol (4) was isolated from the genus Aspidistra for the first time. This is also the first report on the separation and structural determination of (25S)-spirost-1β,3α,5β-triol (5) as a pure compound.

From Paramignya trimera plants that were collected in the Hon Heo Commune (Khanh Hoa Province, November 2013), n-hexane extracts of its stem bark and leaves was obtained which showed moderate cytotoxic activity towards KB, Hep-G2, Lu and MCF7 cell lines (with IC50 values ranging from 5.7 to 30.89 µg/mL).
