Measures to improve bird performance have been sought due to the imminent phase out of in-feed antibiotics in poultry and continued demand for higher poultry feeding efficiency. Increasing grain particle size and dietary fibre may improve gizzard function, digestive efficiency and nutrient absorption. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect increased particle size of corn and inclusion of sugarcane bagasse (SB) on mRNA expression of genes encoding digestive enzymes and nutrient transporters in broilers.

The aim of this study was to identify the first quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for WS as well as breast muscle yield (BMY) and meat quality traits using a genome-wide association study (GWAS). We took advantage of two divergent lines of chickens selected for meat quality through Pectoralis major ultimate pH (pHu) and which exhibit the muscular defect. An expression QTL (eQTL) detection was further performed for some candidate genes, either suggested by GWAS analysis or based on their biological function.

Overfeeding reduces laying performance in broiler breeder hens, which is associated with obesity, hepatic steatosis and systemic inflammation. To unravel the underlying mechanisms governing the effect of feeding regimes on energy metabolism and egg production, a transcriptomics approach was carried out for screening differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ovary, liver and adipose tissues of broiler chickens under ad libitum and restricted feeding.

Growth performance is significant in broiler production. In the growth process of broilers, gene expression varies at different growth stages. However, limited research has been conducted on the molecular mechanisms of muscle growth and development in yellow-feathered male chickens.

Copy number variations (CNVs) are a major type of structural genomic variants that underlie genetic architecture and phenotypic variation of complex traits, not only in humans, but also in livestock animals. We identified CNVs along the chicken genome and analyzed their association with performance traits.

The biological experiment was carried out with Three hundred commercial sexed, one day-old, broiler chicks that were randomly grouped into six treatments with five replicates for each treatment and containing ten chicks per replicate. The chicks were reared from day-old to thirty five days of age in deep litter system in a gable roofed, open sided poultry house. All the chicks were reared under standard management conditions throughout the experimental period.

Two hundred ten (210) of one day old commercial broiler chicks (VenCobb 500) were divided into five (T0, T1, T2, T3&T4) groups of 42 birds in each with three replicate of 14 broilers in each with the aim to see the effect of microbial phytase enzyme on the tibia characteristics and biochemistry in blood serum of broilers. For said purpose, the birds of (T1, T2, T3&T4) groups were feed with basal diets having (250FTU, 500FTU, 750FTU & 1000FTU/kg) respectively, while T0 group was feed without any phytase.
