Miscibility study of thermoplastic starch/polylactic acid blends: Thermal and superficial properties
In this work, the miscibility of blends of thermoplastic Achira Starch (AS) and polylactic acid (PLA) was evaluated, assisted by Pluronic® F127 an amphiphilic triblock copolymer that acts as a surfactant and promotes the reduction of surface tension among AS and PLA in solution by emulsion stabilization.

In this paper, Ba doped LaMnO3 nanoparticles (LBMO), a promissing material for making cathode of SOFC, were prepared by microwave combustion method. This material has many advantages. Effect of the amount fuel in the combustion reaction on the products was studied by various methods such as: X-ray diffraction measurement, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive Xray spectroscopy. The results showed that each doping rate requires an appropriate amount of fuel to obtain pure and crystalline product.

Iron oxide nanorods were synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method. The structural and morphological characteristics of the as-synthesized nanorods were analyzed by Xray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the iron oxide nanorods include the mixture of Fe3O4, γ-Fe2O3 and FeOOH with the diameter and the length of iron oxide nanorods to be 30 and 100 nm, respectively. The iron oxide nanorods were then dispersed and deposited on the gold electrode of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) for the gas sensor.

In this report, thin layers of MoS2 were in-situ incorporated into graphene oxide (GO) to form MoS2/graphene nanocomposite by a facile ultrasonic-assisted hydrothermal method. Xray Diffraction (XRD) and Raman analysis revealed that the as-synthesized MoS2 nanosheets crystalized in hexagonal phase 2H-MoS2 while High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) images confirmed that MoS2 layers with average thickness of ~5–6 nm (6–8 layers) attached on the edges and surfaces of graphene sheets with high density and uniform shape restacking in three-dimensional (3D) architectures.

Unmodified montmorillonite clay was utilized as a low cost adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals from a contaminated automobile effluent. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Xray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the adsorbent. Batch sorption experiments were performed at an optimum effluent pH of 6.5, adsorbent dose of 0.1 g, particle size of 100 lm and equilibrium contact time of 180 min. Thermodynamic analysis was also conducted. Equilibrium data were analyzed by the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich models.

The synthesis of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) by surfactant-assisted chemical reduction method was studied aiming to identify the content of PVP-surfactant corresponding to the size of copper particles. The crystallite size and phase of CuNPs were determined by Xray diffraction (XRD) analysis while transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM) were used to characterize the size of copper particles.

The present study aims to investigate the fluorination of thorium oxide (ThO2) by ammonium hydrogen difluoride (NH4HF2). Fluorination was performed at room temperature by mixing ThO2 and NH4HF2 at different molar ratios, which was then left to react for 20 days. Next, the mixtures were analyzed using Xray diffraction (XRD) at the intervals of 5, 10, 15, and 20 days, followed by the heating of the mixtures at 450e750 C with argon gas flow.

The N,O-bidentate ligand 2-((methylimino)methyl)pyren-1-ol (1) gives with nickel acetate in a mixed solvent of toluene and ethanol in the presence of NaOAc the nickel(II) complex 1(Ni). It was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, MS spectroscopy and single crystal Xray diffraction. With respect to the nickel atom the complex 1(Ni) adopts a distorted square planar trans-coordination geometry.

Titanium oxide ST01, ST31, TiO2 catalysts modified by V5+, N2+ and supported on MCM41 and SiO2 have been used for photooxidation of p-xylene in gas phase. Physicochemical properties of catalysts were determined by the methods of BET Adsorption, Xray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and atom adsorption spectroscopy (AAS) methods. The photocatalytic activity of catalysts were determined after thermal treatment as well as UV lighting. The common observation is that the higher temperature of treatment the lower conversion of p-xylene obtained.

The structural, morphological and optical properties of CBD deposited CdS thin films have been studied by varying the processing parameters and the Cd/S ratio of the starting precursors in order to better understand the growth conditions. The films were characterized by Xray diffraction, SEM, Raman, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. XRD patterns show that asdeposited CdS films were polycrystalline. The grain size are increasing with increasing the Cd/S ratio and/or the deposition time.

Primary chemically formed lead dioxide (PbO2 ) was used as positive electrode in preparation of lead–acid bipolar batteries. Chemical oxidation was carried out by both mixing and dipping methods using an optimized amount of ammonium persulfate as a suitable oxidizing agent. Xray diffraction studies showed that the weight ratio of -PbO2 to -PbO2 is more for mixing method before electrochemical forming.
