The study highlights the extent of tribal farm women’s actively participation through various farm and household activities for livelihood security to their family life in rice based farming system. A study was undertaken in Narayanpur district in Bastar plateau of Chhattisgarh state to analyze the livelihood security through tribal farm women in rice based farming system and identify different farm development activities. The participations of tribal farm women in Narayanpur district mainly from rice cultivation, horticulture and animal husbandry activities were taken for the study.

Integrated Farming System (IFS) is a complex interrelated matrix of soil, plants, animals, implements, power, labour, capital and other inputs controlled in part by farming families and influence to varying degree by political, economical, institutional and rest factors that operate at farm level. In rural India, the percentage of women who depend on agriculture for their livelihood is as high as 84%.Apart from participation in actual cultivation; women participate in various forms of processing and marketing of agricultural produce. Women accounted for 93% of total employment in dairy production. To begin with training programmes were started to self-help groups (SHG) on labour saving equipment, processing, value addition and storage of grains followed by model processing units establishment in rural areas. Workshops and melas were also conducted for empowerment of women in SHGs.

Watershed development programme placed a central emphasis on capacity building of the stakeholders and their active participation particularly women on planning, implementation and post project maintenance with primary goal of livelihood security. A study conducted with192 watershed women from 24 watersheds in four blocks of Sundargarh and Keonjhar districts of Odisha revealed that the watershed women had a favourable opinion for the involvement of Project personnel working at field level. The study was undertaken to analyse the economic activities of farm households in the sub-tropics of Jammu region of Jammu & Kashmir state and whether farm households depend exclusively on agriculture for their livelihood or not. The study was conducted by employing non-experimental descriptive research design.
