The dense stroma of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas is a major barrier to drug delivery. To increase the local drug difusion gradient, high doses of chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin can be released from thermally-sensitive liposomes (ThermoDox®) using ultrasound-mediated hyperthermia at the tumour target.

To compare the therapeutic efficacy and safety of microwave ablation (MWA) and lauromacrogol injection for ablation (LIA) for benign predominantly cystic thyroid nodules. Materials and methods In this retrospective study, 85 patients with predominantly cystic thyroid nodules (PCTNs) who underwent microwave ablation (MWA) or lauromacrogol injection for ablation (LIA) between June 2019 and August 2022 at three hospitals were included in our research.

Besides giving colour to plants, anthocyanins also have antioxidant and anti-hyperglycemic properties; hence, they are used as therapeutic source for many treatments of diabetes, coronary heart disease and cancer. Many anthocyanin extraction methods such as conventional acidified water (CAW), ultrasound, microwave pre-treatment, supercritical fluid extraction and pulsed electric field (PEF) have been used.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients with surgically altered anatomy remains a challenging procedure even for the more experienced endoscopists. We present a unique case of an ERCP performed in a patient with prior Whipple surgery, where biliary access was obtained via an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided rendezvous technique, and cannulation was ultimately done using a modified therapeutic endoscope with successful biliary drainage.

Neuraxial procedures are commonly performed for therapeutic and diagnostic indications. Currently, they are typically performed via palpation-guided surface landmark. We devised a novel intelligent image processing system that identifies spinal landmarks using ultrasound images.

Fluid extravasation from the shoulder compartment and subsequent absorption into adjacent soft tissue is a well-documented phenomenon in arthroscopic shoulder surgery. We aimed to determine if a qualitative difference in ultrasound imaging of the interscalene brachial plexus exists in relation to the timing of performing an interscalene nerve block (preoperative or postoperative).

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare and aggressive carcinoma located in pleural cavity. Due to lack of effective diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets in MPM, the prognosis is extremely poor. Because of difficulties in sample extraction, and the high rate of misdiagnosis, MPM is rarely studied. Therefore, novel modeling methodology is crucially needed to facilitate MPM research.

Conclusive evidence indicating an effective treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), a common entrapment neuropathy, is lacking. Ultrasound therapy (US therapy) has long been used as one of the combination treatments for CTS. In addition, paraffin bath therapy has been applied widely as a physical modality in treating patients with hand conditions.

Patellar tendinopathy is an extremely debilitating condition and its treatment usually requires a combination of clinical approaches. Therapeutic ultrasound (TUS) is one of the most available electrophysical agent in rehabilitation settings; however, there is also a lack of high-quality studies that test different dosimetric aspects of TUS.

A 55-year-old woman presented with a 3-year history of gradually progressive postprandial epigastric fullness. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a large, broad-based mass in the medial wall of the duodenal bulb (Figure 1). Endoscopic ultrasound showed a large, hyperechoic lesion originating from the submucosal layer of the duodenal wall consistent with a lipoma, and computed tomography of the abdomen with contrast suggested the presence of a homogeneous mass with uniform fat density in the duodenal bulb (Figure 2).

Ultrasound techniques are becoming increasingly important in animal reproduction, offering both a mean of diagnosis and a useful therapeutic tool. Accordingly, understanding the use of ultrasound technology is critical in contemporary animal sciences, since ultrasound examinations are now a routine component of diagnostic workups in reproduction.
