The study will focus on monitoring defects and finding out the nature of these defects. Bulk GaN was irradiated by a 2 MeV electron beam at a fluence of 5×1016 cm2 and studied by deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS). After irradiation, a broad peak, including at least two traps, was detected. The trap D1 (EC −0.16 eV) observed from a broad peak is induced during the annealing process below 550K and completely annealed out at 550K after 10 hours.

Porous silicon photonic crystal (PSi PhC) decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is shown to provide a new substrate for the improvement of SERS. AgNPs are obtained through immersion of PSi PhC samples in AgNO3 solutions and successive thermal annealing.

Nanostructured materials such as CoPt nanoparticles with tunable hard magnetic properties are desirable for a wide range of technological applications. This study establishes, for the first time, a correlation between the order parameter and the coercivity for annealed CoPt nanoparticles and paves a pathway for the development of nanostructured magnets with tunable magnetic properties.

Lithium fluoride fluorescent nuclear track detectors (FNTD) irradiated with alpha-particles were subjected to annealing at temperatures ranging up to 400 ◦C. It was found that for the annealing temperatures between 200 ◦C and 300 ◦C the intensity of fluorescent tracks increases.

CuO nanorods were prepared by thermal oxidation method in ozone ambient. The effect of annealing temprature in the range from 400 to 600 oC on morphology and structure of nanorods was studied thouroughly by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction, combining with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Raman spectroscopy.

This study successfully synthesized two dimensions (2D)-structured g-C3N4 nanosheets by a simple thermal-exfoliation method with annealing route at 2 oC/min. Firstly, melamine was placed in a ceramic crucible with cover and then undergone the annealing route at 550 oC for 2 h to develop into the g-C3N4 bulk. Then the assynthesized g-C3N4 bulk was further annealed without the cover at 550 oC for 2 h to form the final product, g-C3N4 nanosheets.

In this work, ZnO nanocrystalline thin films were obtained by evaporating Zn using the thermal evaporation technique and then thermal treatment. The results show that after annealed at temperature of 400°C, the porous structure becomes visible and the ZnO film has a particle-like structure.

Amorphous lithium niobate (LiNbO3) films were deposited onto silicon substrates by the radiofrequency magnetron sputtering method in a pure Ar environment and an Ar þ O2 gas mixture with various oxygen contents. The oxide charge existing in as-grown films has two components: the positive Qox distributed in the bulk of a film and the negative Qox located at the film/substrate interface with a maximum magnitude corresponding to an Ar (80) O2 (20) gas mixture.

High temperature thermal treatment has been used to obtain atomically flat surfaces and to remove surface damage caused by mechanical polishing of as-received lithium niobate (LiNbO3) substrates. Annealing at 1000 ◦C for 2 hours produces optimal surface smoothness. The micro steps are nearly parallel and periodic almost all over the sample.

We report a facile process to fabricate cuprous thin films by thermal oxidation of copper substrates. Structure and phase identification were studied by X-ray diffraction measurement and Raman spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopy was utilized to study surface morphology of the as-fabricated thin films and optical properties of the samples were investigated by diffused reflectance spectroscopy.

Perovskite La0.67−xLi3xTiO3 with x = 0.10, 0.11, 0.12 and 0.13 were firstly annealed at 800 oC then treated by reactive milling, followed by post-annealing at temperatures from 1100 to 1200oC. The crystalline structure of grain and grain-boundary were characterized by XRD and SEM. The impedance measurements showed that nanocrystalline La0.67−xLi3xTiO3 after being annealed at 1150 oC possessed a grain conductivity as high as 1.3 × 10−3 S.cm−1 . The grainboundary conductivity was enhanced one order in magnitude after annealing at temperature higher 1100˚C and consists of 5.8 × 10−5 S.cm−1 .

The objective of the present work is to study the irradiation effects on third generation SiC fibers which fulfill the minimum requisites for nuclear applications, i.e. Hi-Nicalon type S, hereafter HNS, and Tyranno SA3, hereafter TSA3. With this purpose, these fibers have been ion-irradiated with 4 MeV Au ions at room temperature and increasing fluences.

Blades and vanes for gas turbines, usually made of Ni-based superalloys, are exposed at very high temperature in severe oxidation and corrosion environments. Nowadays, thermal barrier coating systems (TBCs) have been applied to protect them against such severe working conditions. In this study, Pt and PtIr diffusion coatings on Ni based single crystal superalloys were fabricated by an electroplating method followed by an annealing heat treatment process. The microstructure and phase constitution of the coatings were studied by SEM/EDS and XRD methods.

This paper is the first report on the red light emission of manganese (Mn) doped beta-tricalcium phosphate (- Ca3(PO4)2, TCP) synthesis by co-precipitation method followed by thermal annealing. The annealed Mn doped TCP phosphor showed dominant spheres with a diameter of about 500 nm.

We show that the value of the tensile strain in the Ge layers lineally increases with increasing the growth temperature and reaches a saturation value of ∼0.24% in the temperature range of 700-770˚C. Post-grown cyclic thermal annealing has allowed to increase the tensile strain up to 0.30%, which is the highest value ever reported to date. Finally, photoluminescence measurements reveal both an enhancement of the Ge direct band gap emission and a reduction of its energy due to the presence of tensile strain in the layers.

In this work, TiO2 nanocrystalline thin films were obtained through evaporating Ti films by Electron Beam Deposition (EBD) followed by thermal treatment. The deposition speed of Ti thin fims was carried out at 0.15 nm/s and 1 nm/s. The results show that after annealing at 450˚C for 8 h, the obtained TiO2 thin films have nanoparticle structure with grain size of 20 nm for the Ti thin film deposited at the rate of 1nm/s, whereas at the a deposition rate of 0.15 nm/s, the TiO2 has a nanorod structure with the rod length of 300 – 400 nm.

In this work, we have investigated the effects of thermal annealing on interconnected at nanowire junctions and between AgNWS network and rGO films via their sheet resistance and transmission. The annealing temperature was varied from 120˚C to 180˚C with 10˚C step to find out optimal temperature at which the wires can be joined together. The results show that at 170˚C, the sheet resistance and transmission of the hybrid rGO/Ag NW film are Rs = 10.

In this work, the structural characteristic and photoluminescence properties of Eu3+ doped B2O3-TeO2 – ZnO-Na2O glasses were investigated. These glasses were prepared by a melting method in air, combined with thermal annealing at 350 ˚ C, 450 ˚ C and 550 ˚ C for different duration times. The structural analysis results of these glasses revealed the formation of micro-crystals in the annealed host glass. The photoluminescence spectra of Eu3+ doped in these samples were observed.
