The thin-layer chromatography technique (TLC) is a simple and inexpensive analysis commonly used to identify qualitatively the presence of carbohydrates in food samples such as mono- di and oligosaccharides particularly. TLC assay could be improved using image processing software for the semiquantitative determination of this type of compound. In the present work, TLC-image analysis with Silica Gel 60 TLC plates was used for the semiquantitative determination of 6 standards of carbohydrates (glucose, fructose, sucrose, 1-kestose, nystose, and fructofuranosylnystose).

This study also observed that supplements like minimal essential medium amino acids and B complex vitamins individually has further enhanced the bacteriocin activity by 13% (total 33%), biomass by 43%, total protein and activity by 17% and 22% respectively. However, addition of some common growth supplements like multivitamins with trace elements, CaCl2 and MgSO4 had shown inhibitory effect on bacteriocin activity.

A total of 368 dogs brought to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Guwahati, Assam, India were screened for tuberculosis using tuberculin skin test (TST) technique and out of which a total of 6 dogs each from both the reactor and non-reactor group were included for the study. Now-a-days, Pectin production has a market potential value on the basis of the growth prospectus of its users industries. Citrus peel of various origins contains 20-50% pectin on the dry matter basis.
