Tomato genotypes for growth
-
An experiment on Tomato Genotypes was conducted during November, 2019 to March, 2020 in Research Field, Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) India. The results of the present investigation, regarding the evaluation of tomato for plant growth, fruit yield and quality of Tomato Hybrids, have been discussed and interpreted in the light of previous research work done in India and abroad.

The experiment was conducted to study the 24 tomato genotypes for growth, yield and quality attributes. Among the 24 genotypes, genotype D-6-1-9-6-1 and Nandi was exhibited least days taken to fifty percent flowering (26.50 days), IIHR-2201 was recorded highest number of branches at 45 DAT (5.32), 60 DAT (8.92),

The goal of this investigation was to evaluation of tomato genotypes viz., TODVAR-1, TODVAR-2, TODVAR-3, TODVAR-4, TODVAR-5, TODVAR-6, TODVAR-7, TODVAR-8 and H -86 (C) for their growth, yield and quality under foothills condition of Nagaland state. This experiment was laid out with nine tomato genotypes and three replications. The results showed that there were significant differences in evaluated parameters among cultivars. Among the genotype, TODVAR-8 was found superior genotype and recorded maximum plant height (64.75 cm), number of branches plant-1 (14.22), number of leaves plant-1 (47.

A study was conducted to evaluate the reaction of tomato genotypes to root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita race - 3) and the nematode reproduction were studied in the nematode infested pot culture experiment. Forty tomato genotypes were subjected for screening. At 65 days after nematode inoculation, whole plants were uprooted, washed and ranked for root galling and egg mass indices on a 1 to 5 scales. The plant growth responses viz.

The present study was carried out to know the performance of cherry tomato genotypes for different traits attributing for growth, yield and quality in cherry tomato at the Division of Vegetable Crops College of Horticulture, Bagalkot (Karnataka), India during the period between September 2015 to February 2016. Among the genotypes used for investigation BCT-8 showed highest plant height (126.20 cm), highest number of primary (6.3) and secondary branches (13.5) and highest yield per plant in (1779.6g). Highest TSS was registered in BCT-27 (8.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the cherry tomato genotypes for growth and yield contributing characters under shade net conditions. Among the twenty four genotypes used, the tallest plant at final harvest was recorded by the genotype Pant Cherry Tomato 1 (266.22 cm) while, number of primary branches plant-1 at final harvest was found to be the highest in LE 13 (16.53).

An experiment entitled Evaluation of cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. var. cerasiforme) genotypes for growth and yield parameters was conducted in the Department of Vegetable Science, College of Horticulture, Bengaluru, Karnataka during the year 2018-19. In present study, twenty one cherry tomato genotypes were evaluated for growth, and yield parameters. Among different genotypes, COHBT-199 genotype recorded maximum plant height (261.10 cm) and minimum height was recorded in COHBT-206 (179.50 cm).

Correlation and path analysis was carried out in 60 tomato genotypes using growth, earliness, quality and yield characters. Very high (>40%) genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient variation (PCV) were observed for fruit volume, average fruit weight and yield plant-1.

Present investigation was carried out at Vegetable Research Farm, RPCAU, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar during 2018-19 (Rabi). About thirty genotypes were evaluated for 15 growth, yield and quality characters which were grouped into six clusters. Cluster I topped in having maximum of ten genotypes followed by cluster IV and V with seven genotypes each, cluster II with four genotypes, while cluster III and VI were monotypic (one genotype each). The maximum intra cluster distance was observed in cluster IV (550.48) followed by clusters IV (490.54), cluster II (397.02) and cluster I (379.

Abiotic stresses are one of the key limitations to global crop production and food security. Among the abiotic stresses, drought is one of the most vital factors that causes change in morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics in plants, and consequently affects the growth and productivity of crops.

The temperature increase above the optimum level cause irreversible damage to plant growth and development. Plants respond to high temperature through acclimation (acquired thermotolerance) by adopting several physiological and biochemical mechanisms to overcome high temperature stress. Hence, the present study was done to evaluate tomato genotypes for their thermo tolerance based on the principle of ‘‘acquired tolerance’’.

Tomato is one of the most popular and widely grown vegetables in the world which ranks next to potato. Although tomato is generally grown under irrigated conditions, its cultivation as a rainfed crop has gained importance particularly in semi-arid regions. It has been established that stress due to water deficit is a very important limiting factor at the initial phase of plant growth and establishment. Studies on physiological evaluation of tomato genotypes is limiting in the drought stress condition.
