This study aims to investigate the impact of the selection process of organisers on members’ opinions of organisers’ performance and accountability. In doing so, it examines the attitudes and perceptions of union members towards the differing selection processes of organisers, the characteristics of organisers (including gender, age, experience and education), and their possible impact on union democracy.

The objective of the present research is to explore strategies for trade union revitalisation in Vietnam. The attempts by trade unions in developed countries to respond to the issues they face, such as the decline in union density, have attracted a significant amount of academic research attention since the 1970s (Fiorito 2004; Gahan & Bell 1999). These attempts have been labelled either as union revitalisation or union renewal (Lévesque & Murray 2006).

This thesis is concerned, centrally, with the responses to NPM from two perspectives: local government and organised labour (specifically national and international trade union organisations). Two themes recur in the policy debates around NPM: the effects on the quality of public services and the impacts on employment. Both are examined in this thesis as they had been under-researched and were overshadowed in the research literature by an economistic concern with costs and technical efficiency.

This thesis aims at analysing EVFTA’s NTMs on garment and textile exports to the EU, providing insights into current situation of application of EVFTA’s NTMs on garment and textile exports, analysing impacts of EVFTA’s NTMs on garment and textile exports using the gravity model, pointing out opportunities and challenges for garment and textile industry from EVFTA’s NTMs using the SWOT matrix, and finally making suggestions for the government and businesses in the sector on the way forward.
