Training in Germany

Professional competencies required in the field of logistics and supply chain management (SCM) are in the process of continuous development since the modern business environment creates a high demand for them. This study was aimed at assessing the state of training systems’ development and the capabilities for their future improvement in terms of creating conditions for effective SCM by skilled labor. In order to achieve the research objective, a comparative analysis of national higher training and logistics systems was performed on the example of Russia and Germany.

In order to promote capacity building, a Collaborative International Exchange Programme has been established between Jimma University at Jimma, Ethiopia, and Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. The paper reports on the impact of building an intellectual capital statement for the Chamber of Agriculture in Styria, Austria (Landeskammer Steiermark, “LK Styria”), and with the subsequent issues of organizational development. LK Styria is a knowledge-based organization where intellectual capital accounts for a large share of the entity’s value. Building on the activities of LK Styria and their outcomes, a knowledge-based intellectual capital inventory was set up for the human, structural and relationship resources based on the method “Wissensbilanz made in Germany”.

In his presentation, Dr M. Bittner, Rapporteur on Satellite Measurements of Atmospheric Consituents, first reviewed the GAW activities in Germany. These include supporting both Global and Regional stations. Also Germany hosts the QA/SAC for Europe and Africa and has sponsored GAW training courses at a number of locations in the country. Vehicles fi tted with noise-reducing technologies are refunded 0.01 CHF per axle kilometre travelled in Switzerland.
