In this study, the essential oil from the leaves of bael tree was extracted and added as an additional income to the farmers along with its fruits, timber, fodder and other domestic usages. The essential oil yield from the leaves of bael tree was obtained by hydro-distillation. A socio-economic survey in the Bisht Village and Kirsali village of district Dehradun, Uttarakhnad was conducted and the existing role of bael tree in rural agroforestry and economy was also assessed.

The practice continues in the Himalayan regions of the sub-continent. Elms grow fast and regenerate rapidly by seed, are resistant to pruning and root damage and adapt exceptionally well to unfavorable environmental conditions prevalent in the region. However, little information is available on the nutrient composition and nutritive value of Elm leaves as animal feed in the temperate regions of the country particularly in Kashmir.

The study found that non-traditional forages like tree leaves, shrubs, herbaceous weeds and epiphytic ferns have an important role in feeding of domestic livestock during the lean period in NEH Region. Most of these edible leafy fodders belong to Moraceae, Lauraceae, Fagaceae, Euphorbiacea, Ulmaceae, Verbenaceae and Symploaceae families.

Subabul is an important protein rich tree fodder which its lopping is extensively used as cattle fodder. It is drought resistant tree, generally grown as border or bund crop in farmers and its lopping is cut for green fodder for animals. For this purpose tree fodder cultivating seems to be a promising strategy for livestock farmers. A field experiment was conducted to find out the relative performance of tree fodder growth at various stages of cutting and suitable lopping interval of subabul (Leucaena leucocephala) during 2019-2020.

A trail was conducted to assess the growth performance of quails with the tree leaf meal prepared using leaves pruned from Gliricidia sepium in silvipasture. 250 Nos. of quails were randomly divided into five treatment groups, 50 quails in each treatment. Group-1 fed with control diet without tree fodder, group-2, 3, 4 and 5 were fed with tree fodder included diet @ 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 per cent level.

Leucaena leucocephala is a medium-sized, multipurpose tree which is a valuable source of pulpwood, small timber, fuel wood, fodder and green manure. Poor and delayed seed germination is reported due to seed collection at improper maturity stage coupled with physical dormancy. Hence, the present study was carried out to determine the exact maturity stage for seed collection at three locations of northern India i.e. Agra (S1), Mathura (S2) and Hathrus (S3).

In India, grazing lands are around 12 million hectares which constituted the main grazing resources for the huge livestock population (512.05 million). But the productivity of the grazing lands is low due to over grazing and poor management. There is urgent need to improve the productivity of community grazing lands through sowing mixed stand of grasses and legume, increase grazing period and plantation of fodder trees on grazing lands. Korangadu pasture a private pasture land and a time tested model maintained by the farmers and it is the major source of feeding on zero budgets.

Chironji, a multipurpose tree provides food, fuel, fodder, timber and medicine to the local community. The species is well known for its kernel which has high nutritive value with rich source of fat, protein and mineral. It is free for collection, as a result of which the local inhabitants, traders and greedy merchants destroy the branches/whole trees during collection of its fruits without bothering about new plantations. This has led to the destruction of Chironji plants in the forests.

An one ha model of integrated farming system initiated during 2015 at Agricultural Research Institute, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana. One hectare area divided into 5 blocks viz. involving rice-sweet corn- dhaincha on 0.24 ha, banana plantation with on 0.15 ha, brinjal-tomato in 0.2 ha for vegetable production, Green fodder crops were raised on 0.35 ha. 50 saplings of coconut were planted all around the bunds. Field beans are also grown on the bunds between the trees of coconut. Vines of bitter gourd, bottle gourd and cucumber were trained on a pandal of 0.04ha.

Livestock farming forms an integral part in the economy of the NEH Region of India and plays an important role in the mixed crop farming system. In addition, high diversity in livestock composition is the characteristic features of the mainland of this region. The region obtains high potential of milk production because of availability of fodder as a form of extensive grasslands, wasteland, shrub and fodder trees. Livestock, other than milk production, are widely used for manure, plowing fields and transportation of goods.

Trees are the most important component of Agroforestry, they provide, shelter, food, nutrient for soil and fodder for animals. Poplar trees have an important commercial value and can make an important contribution to the economy of the country. Tree volume equations were developed for prediction and estimation of merchantable volume. Data were collected with the aid of haga altimeter, meter tape and calliper. The measurement obtain were the diameter at breast height (D.B.H), diameter at base, diameter at top and merchantable height.

Fodder shortage (quality as well as quantity) has been found throughout mid hills of Nepal. The tree fodder is particularly important as a green, nitrogen supplement to poor quality crop residues during the dry season when feeds are scarce. The nutritional values of fodders differ according to species and season therefore farmers prefer different species for different seasons to feed their livestock.

Moringa oleifera is a miracle tree that can be used in multiple ways, including as foodstuff, livestock fodder, a plant growth enhancer, or a water purifier. While the stem cutting method is easy and successful for tree propagation, the recent introduction of moringa as a field crop for biomass production requires propagation through seeds.

Rehydration consists not only of the ingestion of water but also of its absorption and distribution throughout the body tissues. Because of large buffering capacity of their alimentary tract, ruminants are able to drink large quantities of water in a very short time after a period of privation. Animals without this capacity are rarely able to take all their requirements in one short session, mainly due to the problems associated with haemolysis. Some non-ruminants are, however, capable of rapid drinking, including dogs and donkeys.
