  • In response to the latest statistics regarding the violence and disappearance of Indigenous women, the authors of this paper attempt to honor the often overlooked sacrifices they make for the physical and spiritual well-being of Indigenous peoples. The abstract statistics are manifested in the lives of two Indigenous women who mysteriously disappeared but left a lasting impression on one of the current authors. Specifically, he carries with him their lessons of tribal relational identity, true equality between the sexes, and the belief that love given selflessly never ever really disappears.

  • Migration had a significant impact on the livelihood of tribes people. This had also affected the existing agriculture situation of tribal areas. The study revealed that more than half of the tribal migrants had high livelihood capital index after migration.   • The study was done in four tribal villages Durbili, Suryanagaram, Shantinagaram, and Vanjarapuguda to identify the Nutritional status of the tribal families and studying the dietary pattern of the tribal families. The sample comprised of 450 tribal people. Results revealed that children below 6 years were formed to be undernourished, adolescent girls found to be anaemic, pregnant and lactating women were found to be underweight and anaemic due to micronutrient deficiencies in their diets.

  • The study was undertaken in Western Undulating Agro-Climatic zone covering Kalahandi and Nuapara districts in Odisha dominated by tribal community. A sample size of 192 tribal people was selected randomly from 12 watersheds of four blocks as the respondents of the study.   • The Western hills of Manipur, India are inhabited by tribal people mostly of Zeliangrong tribe and to some extent by Kuki tribe. They had been living in an isolated society with its own socio-cultural pattern and tradition. The seasonal food produce were processed to enhance nutritive value, flavour and above all shelf life to consume in the lean season. The most common method of processing is sun drying and natural fermentation and boiling in the plain water. Lack of or conscious efforts to limit salt uses were evident during the survey.

  • Sacrifice of animals and birds for socio-cultural and religious events have long been an indispensable part of human civilization. The present exploratory investigation was directed in this direction to study poultry sacrifices among the tribal people of Koraput district-a tribal dominated area of Southern Odisha.   • A survey was carried out to study the diversity of Macrofungi from the forest of Champhai, Mizoram, Northeast India. 17 (seventeen) species of edible wild mushrooms were collected. The identified specimens were from the families – Russulaceae, Polyporaceae, Boletaceae, Lyophyllaceae, Agaricaceae, Auriculariaceae, Marasmiaceae, Gomphaceae, Schizophyllaceae, Elaphomycetaceae. The species were identified based on their morphology. The ethnic tribal people have extensive ethnomycological knowledge based on which they collect and sell the edible ones.

  • The study was conducted following the Ex Post Facto research design in Champua Subdivision of Keonjhar district Odisha taking the WADI adopting and WADI non-adopting tribal people for the comparison of their socio-economic profile. The information obtained from the tribals who have adopted WADI Project was very much encouraging. For most of the variables the WADI adopters stand in a higher position as compare to the non-adopter ones. Hence, effort should be taken by the Government for the promotion of more such programmes for the livelihood development of the tribal population in the country.

  • Tasar silkworm (Antheraea mylitta Drury) rearing and cocoon production are mainlycarried out by Tribal people of Central India and some parts of Odisha and Telangana states. Lack of Tasar silkworm seed production and preservationtechnology is creating difficulties in timely supply of adequate quantity of seed to the farmers and others stake holders..High temperature above 28ºC and less relative humidity than 50% are not suitable for the oviposition and hatching of eggs. In Tasar silk moth, egg retention was also more even after 72 h of oviposition in natural conditions.
