Tribal zone

The study was undertaken in Western Undulating Agro-Climatic zone covering Kalahandi and Nuapara districts in Odisha dominated by tribal community. A sample size of 192 tribal people was selected randomly from 12 watersheds of four blocks as the respondents of the study. Institutional arrangements, planning, programme development and implementation, funding pattern, monitoring and supervision were selected as the variables for analyzing the constraints.

The research study was conducted during the year 2015 to study relationship between the personal, socio-economic and psychological characteristics and livelihood security of the tribal farmers in high altitude tribal zone of Karnataka state. The study revealed that education, land holding, annual income, extension contact, mass media exposure, social participation, economic orientation, risk orientation and level of aspiration had shown positively significant relationship and fatalism had shown negatively significant relationship with livelihood security of tribal farmers.

A study was undertaken to assess different productive and reproductive performances of Desi, Kamrupa and Vanaraja chicken under traditional system amongst tribal community of Lower Brahmaputra Valley Zone of Assam. Information on mean body weight at various ages groups, age at first egg, annual egg production, mortality rate, fertility and hatchability were obtained from farmers under the study.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2013-14to 2015-16 on sandy clay loam soil at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Chintapalli, Andhra Pradesh to find out the efficient weed management practices of rajmash crop in high altitude and tribal zone. Maize is the most important world‟s leading cereals crop which can be grown in diverse seasons, ecological and uses and known as queen of cereal due to unparallel productivity among cereal crops. Front line demonstrations (FLDs) on maize were laid down at 180 farmers‟ fields to demonstrate production potential and economic benefits of improved production technologies comprising high yielding varieties namely PEHM-2, PM-3, PM-5, PSM 2 and PM 4 in Pali district of arid zone of Rajasthan state during Kharif seasons from 2011 to 2017 in rainfed farming situation.

The present experiment in turmeric was carried out in Randomized Block Design with three replications during Kharif 2017 at Horticulture Research Station, Dr. Y.S.R.H.U, Chinthapalli, Visakhapatnam District. Total nineteen genotypes were evaluated including one national and one local check. An experiment entitled was conducted at the Agricultural Research Station, AAU, Jabugam which comes under Middle Gujarat Agro-Climate Zone-III during seasons of the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 on “Evaluation of different varieties of banana in tribal area of Chhotaudepur Region of Middle Gujarat”. The experiment consisted of eight treatment combinations comprised of four varieties (viz. V1.Grand Naine, V2.Robusta, V3.Mahalaxmi and V4.William) and two planting materials (viz. P1.
