Although existing studies confirm that the presence of these beneficial phytochemicals in XTP, further research is essential to optimize their extraction yield.

In this study, we investigated some conditions affecting the extraction of total carotenoids from R. mucilaginosa using environmentally friendly chemicals: cell disruption conditions with organic acids combined with ultrasound-assistant method, using ethanol and petroleum ether solvents to replace acetone in the process of extracting total carotenoids to obtain a benign product, easy to apply in food.

An analytical procedure for the analysis of carotenoids in marine sediments rich in organic matter has been developed. Analysis of these compounds is difficult; the application of methods used by other authors required optimization for the samples studied here.
