Unground rice husk ash

This study attempts to utilize cold-bonded fly ash based artificial lightweight aggregate (ALWA) and retrieved unground rice husk ash (URHA) as internal curing (IC) agents for improving performance of typical supersulfated cement (SSC) mortar fabricated with ternary mixture of 85% slag, 10% gypsum, and only 5% blended Portland cement (PCB).

The production of cement and traditional fired clay bricks consumes intensive energy and inversely affects the environment. In addition, a huge quantity of solid waste materials such as rice husk ash and fly ash (FA) are generated from both industrial and agricultural activities. This study investigates the use of unground rice husk ash (URHA) and FA for manufacturing unfired building bricks. FA was used as a cement substitute (15%, 30%, and 50%), whereas URHA was used as a chippings replacement (5%, 10%, and 15%) in the brick mixtures.

This study investigates the application of unground rice husk ash (URHA) as fine aggregate in mortar. Mortar samples, which typically have 0-50% URHA as the total aggregate volume, is prepared to achieve the green development of construction material industry.
