  • Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) is one of the most important members in the Rhamnaceae family. The whole genome sequence and more than 30,000 proteins of Chinese jujube have been obtained in 2014. Mitogenactivated protein kinase cascades are universal signal transduction modules in plants, which is rapidly activated under various biotic and abiotic stresses. To date, there has been no comprehensive analysis of the MAPK and MAPKK gene family in Chinese jujube at the whole genome level.

  • In plants, Calcium (Ca2+) acts as a universal messenger in various signal transduction pathways, including responses to biotic and abiotic stresses and regulation of cellular and developmental processes. The Ca2+/ cation antiporter (CaCA) superfamily proteins play vital roles in the transport of Ca2+ and/or other cations.

  • Rice is one of the important cereal crops and more than half of the world population is dependent on Rice as staple food. Rice cultivation is affected by various abiotic stresses like drought, salinity, cold etc. Universal Stress Proteins (USPs) are conserved proteins found across the plant, animals, fungi and bacteria. USPs are reported to be involved in various abiotic stress responses. In this study we have identified 43 USP genes in rice, distributed across the chromosome.

  • A field investigation was carried out in the shade net house at the Agricultural Experimental Farm of Calcutta University at Baruipur, 24-Parganas (South) during MarchJune 2017 and germination tests as well as enzymatic assay were carried out in the Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agriculture Science, University of Calcutta. Out of the 19 accessions of okra under study, five genotypes were selected after screening which could sustain the salinity levels at 50 mM, 100mM and 150mM viz. Arka Anamika, Deepika, Shivani hybrid, Panchvati and Japani Jhar.

  • Neonatal calf diarrhoea (NCD) is a major threat to dairy industries. It is a multi-etiology disease with E. coli as the predominant cause. Emergence of antimicrobial resistance is of utmost concern because it has rendered the present day antibiotics less effective. The present study aims for isolation, molecular characterization and antimicrobial resistant profiling of E. coli from neonatal calves. One hundred two fecal samples were collected from neonatal calves for isolation of E. coli. All the isolates showed positive result on biochemical analysis. But only 78.

  • A total of 1649milk samples from 172 Gir cows of Cattle Breeding Farm, Junagadh Agricultural University were collected with fortnight interval throughout the lactation for a period from 04-04-2014 to 10-10 -2015. The samples collected were analyzed for estimation of Fat %, SNF %, and Protein % and Sugar (Lactose). Total period was grouped in four seasons: Rainy, Winter, Spring and Summer. Total 11 stages were considered to for analysis. Effect of lactation order was considered as cows in lactation order from 01 to 10 parity were included in the study.

  • Heat shock factors form a family of transcription factors (four in mam-mals), which were named according to the first discovery of their activation by heat shock. As a result of the universality and robustness of their response to heat shock, the stress-dependent activation of heat shock factor became a ‘paradigm’: by binding to conserved DNA sequences (heat shock elements), heat shock factors trigger the expression of genes encoding heat shock proteins that function as molecular chaperones
