Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is an important diagnosis in critical care. VAP research is complicated by the lack of agreed diagnostic criteria and reference standard test criteria. Our aim was to review which reference standard tests are used to evaluate novel index tests for suspected VAP.

To investigate some mortality prognostic factors in patients with ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) at Military Hospital 103 (from July 2018 to September 2019). Subjects and methods: A retrospective and prospective study was conducted on 47 patients. 78.7% were males, mean age 57.64 ± 18.55 years, who were diagnosed with VAP according to diagnostic criteria of ATS in 2016.
