To encourage rice-rice cropping system, enhance yield and livelihood in rainfed areas, Drought Breeding Network, Cuttack conducted “Participatory Varietal Selection (PVS)” trial at Samian and Berna village under drought prone rainfed condition during wet season. Finger millet or ragi is the primary food source for millions of people in tropical dry land regions of Africa and Asia. Two field experiments were conducted to study the genotypic variation for silicon accumulation and the effect of foliar applied silicic acid on growth, nutrient uptake and blast disease resistance of ragi. Study showed a significant varietal variation for Si accumulation with an average Si content of 1.67 % in the above ground part.

A field investigation as carried out with 35 genotypes of brinjal at Department of Vegetable Science, SKLTSHU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during Rabi, 2017-18. The RBD ANOVA revealed highly significant differences among the genotypes for all the traits indicating the presence of sufficient variability in the experimental material. Groundnut is the major oilseed crop in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh grown in 1,40,000ha during kharif and rabi seasons. PBND and PSND are major problems in groundnut cultivation causing yield losses to the farmers. On Farm Trial on assessment of PBND and PSND tolerant groundnut variety Kadiri Amaravathi was conducted during rabi, 2018-19. In Kadiri Amaravathi variety 3.4 – 22.1% thrips damage was recorded. Whereas in Narayani variety 8.2 to 35.7% damage was recorded. Thrips damage was more at 80-100DAS i.e. during February and March months.

The study was conducted during 2014-15 and 2015-16 at the laboratories of the Department of Seed Science & Technology, CCS HAU, Hisar, to distinguish twenty Indian mustard varieties/genotypes based on chemical tests (phenol, modified phenol, KOH, NaOH, Peroxidase and 2, 4-D Auxin).
